We've Got a Runner!

sorry OT, but why were the couple banned for life from RCCL?
Chronic complainers seeking compensation.

Royal Caribbean told them that since they obviously cannot please them, that they should seek other cruise lines in the future. They also sent them $500.

Coming from a hopsitality standpoint, I completely understand RCI's side.

A bit more...not only were they chronic complainers, they posted every negative experience on Cruise Critic, including details of compensation they received. After giving them 20% off, plus an additional $500, RCCL contacted them and asked them to take down their most recent list of complaints. They refused and were told that they can no longer sail on RCCL.

Wow. I'm curious to see what they wrote. Think i'll hop over there and look around. Thanks.

Just to clarify, there have been a number of discussions over there about this, because the woman involved is a frequent poster. Her story appears to have changed between what she originally posted on the boards, and what she told the reporter who did the article. Originally "they smelled an odor like sewage" For the reporter that became "raw sewage backed up into their room."

Also, regarding why they were banned, it was originally "because we revealed the amount of compensation we received." For the reporter that became, "because we wrote a negative review on cruise critic."

And don't get me started on the blacklight thread...

We love to watch the runners..... We do it on ALL of our DCL cruises. Let me explain.... The TINK family is ALWAYS late for everything. One cruise we even overslept on Disbarkment morning..... Last cruise when we had to get up for early customs in St. Thomas, our family did make it (late), but we are sooo bad as they started to announce people over the PA, everyone we knew was waiting for our name.:rotfl: :rotfl: So we lie to oursleves about the time all aboard and we always get back for the show and dinner... This way we are not late. They will leave you, I have seen it happen.... :lmao: One cruise, they announced if any one from the "X" party on deck "X" was on the ship, they needed to contact GS. We always stand on the verandah and watch them run, so once when standing out there and saw four people running, we started cheering "Go X Family Go" and when they made it to the lift, we started clapping. Can I say, when we saw them later on the ship, we made friends with our "X" family.:woohoo:

You all are describing my nightmares I am having with my upcoming cruise. They are:
1. I forgot to pack my cosmetics
2. I forgot to pack my swimsuit
3. I didn't get my documents
4. I am trying to get to the terminal on time....but stuff happens
5. I am trying to run to the boat as I watch it sail away.....

:confused3

Check out the picture of the people left at the doc....:sad2: The two couples look mighty unhappy, you just know it's going to be a very bad night.

We were on the western 2 January's ago (2007) when we had some "boaters". In Grand Cayman, the Magic tenders. So we started to pull out and all of a sudden, the ship slowed and a very fast boat came heading toward us. It was a couple that had missed the last "official" tender but managed to get shuttled out just as we were leaving.

We talked with our waiters at dinner that night and they told us that there was a recent (remember, I'm talking about January 2007) instance where the ship did the normal public calls from guest services, didn't locate the couple in question and pulled away. Then, they found out that this couple were parents and they had a child in the kids' club! They had to turn around & return (they had supposedly just left port). What the waiters said is that they had a rather unpleasant conversation with the Captain (I can only imagine!).

That story (parents on-shore) could be urban legend - we didn't see it happen on our cruise, we just were told the story - but the speeding tender boat was "live".

So what happens with the kids if the ship leaves the parents at a port?

In Jan 2007, they announced a few names on board as we were attempting to leave St. Thomas (its an early departure too). And there were a few people running. It was so late that after they called them 3 times, they sounded the horn. They came running, and they let them board, and sounded the horn again!!!! Super treat!

We were on the Mariner of the Seas in April, and a couple was left in Grand Caymen. They caught a ride with a Carnival ship that was also in Grand Caymen and met our ship the next day in Cozumel. The captain of our ship joked about what had happened to the couple over the intercom the next day, I guess as sort of a reminder of what can happen if you didn't return to the ship on time. We all wondered if the couple had to pay Carnival for the night, or if they just were being nice and letting them come aboard.
