We decided this weekend that we want to stay at the GF for our upcoming trip in July. We've stayed at the Poly twice and absolutely LOVE it, but we wanted to try something different and love being on the monorail for convenience with the kids.

This december we ate breakfast at the GF and I loved it. We actually tried to switch but they didn't have any rooms available (well the ones that we were willing to pay for! ha!)

Seeing posts about the GF being "stuffy" is it usually enjoyable for small children? Are there any special activities that I shouldn't miss?

Thanks

My kids LOVE GF. Even they don't want to stay anywhere else. SOme things they like: Pirate Cruise, Wonderland Tea Party, Gasparilla's (fast food and arcade), pool, beach, sitting at the tables in front of Gasparilla's at night to watch the fireworks, swimming at night (lots of kids), watching the "duck family" around the marina. They also have some kid activities going on by the theme pool some afternoons but we never made it there because my kids usually prefer the"quiet" pool (it's not quiet - great pool bar). 1900 Park Fare has great character meals - we loved both breakfast and dinner. IF you have any other questions please let me know. Oh, and they love taking the monorail over and the ferry back.

My two DDs ages 5 and 8 also love it! We stayed there once when they were 2 and 5. My now 5 year old keeps asking me "mommy, after our trip when we stay at the Cont, can we stay at the GF? It's beautiful!".

It's a amazingly beautiful resort with a GREAT new pool and great restaurants but IMHO it is NOT stuffy at all. It's wonderful and you'll LOVe it.

That IS my DW fantasy, :cloud9: and my childrens'. I KNOW you will love it!

We stayed there in December. Our 20 month old was with us and we felt right at home! It wasn't stuffy at all.

Paul LOVED the main pool with the zero entry area and waterfall and he was crazy about the squirting fountain in the pool area. He also really, really enjoyed playing in the sand on the beach. He was fascinated by the musicians in the lobby.

There's tons to do there for kids and I don't think you'll feel out of place at all. I didn't get any sort of "stuffy" impression from being there. Sometimes I wonder if the people who say it's too "stuffy" have actually been there. :confused3

That is exactly what I always say. I've never really heard of families who have stayed there complaining about it being "stuffy". It's usually people who have just gone over for dinner or resort hopping. The CMs have always been very friendly and accomodating to our family. Also they have so many kids activities there - Wonderland Tea Party, Pirate Cruise, etc. that it amazes me when people think the GF is not for kids. CHeck out the pools and Gasparillas and you'll find plenty of kids.
