I am so excited! :cool1: We have booked our 1st trip to Disney! My son will be 5 1/2 at the time and it is going to be a complete surprise to him! Woo Hoo! We have a trip planner and we are staying at the Art of Animation in a Cars suite. I would love any tips from the pros out there.

We are surprising our kiddos with a trip to AKV Kidani in December and we are beyond excited! Not quite sure how we're going to keep it quiet for the next 5 months! Happy planning!!!

we suprised our kids a few years back and it was the best!!!! They were so excited!!!

Welcome to the boards. I feel the most important piece information that I could give to anyone would be to stay onsite. Since you are, you are definitely going in the right direction. These boards have a lot of information on rides, books, restaurants, plans, etc. Have fun surfing, and I hope you have a magical trip!!

I booked our first trip first thing on the 11th, too! We have 8 long months to wait (and continue saving up!), but we're all very excited!

Congrats!
A tip I have would be: don't try to see everything. it's not possible. Listen to your little one, as well as your body. Take breaks, go back to the resort and take naps. It's a vacation, so make sure you relax, too!

I took my DD and DS for the first time when she was 11 months and he was 3 and 1/2. we have gone every year since. we got out to the parks early and came home around 1pm for a lay down(sometimes they took a nap,but it was a god send to rest up). This kept them both going till late in the evening and they weren't crabby.
pixiedust: Also, they both loved The Neverland Club (babysitting at the Polynesian) with Goofy and Mickey and other characters and dinner provided as well as games and fun. They loved it so much they never wanted to leave when my DH and I went to pick them up. It really gave us some quality adult couple time together.
Whispering Canyon Cafe has lots of kiddie interactive fun during the family style meal. The kids get to "ride" wooden ponies and be part of the Pony Express, it's a hoot. Have a wonderful time and take lots of pictures (you'll be able to look back on them fondly for years to come).pixiedust:

Excellent advise. I agree. I think its important to make sure you gauge your kids tolerance for rides too. Not all children will enjoy each ride. Make sure to ask around about the little things that make WDW so incredible a place.

Also, make sure you leave time for the buses, if you wait till your shot to get on aa bus you will regret it by the time your back at your room, you will feel terrible.

Make sure to visit the deluxe hotels restaurants too. One tactic is to play at WDW, leave on the monorail to got dinner at the resorts restaurants, and hop a bus from there. its usually easier then going to the TTA and a nicer place to wait if you have too.pixiedust:

you only get to have ONE first visit, enjoy!! :cool1:

I wish I could go back and relive my first visit, but I did when I saw it through my wife's eyes for her first visit, and then my child's. Magic everytime. :wizard:

So happy for you!
Have a wonderful time.
You are in for a magical experience...hate to sound pun-ee.
Can't wait to hear about your experiences, hope you take pics and posts some updates.

CONGRATS on your first trip. One piece of advice that I can give you that I do with my DD is take breaks during the day. I always purchase the park hopper option on my tix. We usually do one park in the daytime followed by lunch at the park (or resort) then go back to the resort to jump in the pool or just relax a little then off to another park just so she wouldn't get too tired and cranky.

Also don't forget to pick up his 1st time button in MK.....

We scheduled our first Disneyland trip (in about 2 weeks). We are way excited. I know it will be way more crowded in the middle of the summer, but it was that or nothing this year.

Thank you all for the warm welcomes! I am getting more and more excited with each passing day!
