on water rides is there places to put shoes/backpacks or other items you do not want wet?

on popies there is a place in the middle of the boat. On dudley do right there is no place. On jarassic park you don't need to.

It's worth it to get a locker for the day (to the left, after entering thru the turnstile) for $5. We keep an extra shirt & usually shoes/sandals there till it's water ride time.
On Popeye Barges there is a covered table a lot of people stash shoes/cameras in. It's pretty effective.
Once you're wet it can get cold when waiting in line for Ripsaw Falls (a/c works great here!). I'd do Ripsaw and then Popeye.

I recommend doing JPRA, Ripsaw, and Popeye/Bluto in that order. Definitely use the center bins on the Poipeye ride. They work VERY well as long as you seal them carefully.

Popeye is the one that soaks you, the others are ok.
Right before you get on the ride, take of your shoes and socks. Ball up your socks and hold them in your hand, then put your shoes back on. For guys, you can take your shirt off, that is, if it's warm out. Put your shirt and socks in the middle. If they let you put your shoes in there, then do it. But the recording states you must have shoes on to ride, so it's a toss up as to whether the ride ops will let you put your shoes in the middle. If you are forced to wear shoes, then hold your feet up as the ride starts. The water splashes in and fills the bottom. It fills with water after the big drop. When the ride is over, walk out and then put your shirt and socks back on, there are benches as you exit.
If you held your feet up as the water splashed in, then your shoes will be fairly dry.

The $5 locker to the left as you walk in is a good idea. Bring a change of cloths with extra shoes and socks. Don't wear sandals or flip flops in the park, they are hard to walk in. If you're gonna get soaking wet then do it with an old pair of sneakers. Then you can change to your good ones after you're done.

In December '99 we could take our shoes off on Bluto, in Jan. '01 we couldn't. Anyone know what the current policy is?

Thanks

I usually wear Tevas when I hit the water rides. Otherwise, on Popeye, I put my feet up.

Sorry. but shirts and shoes are required. You risk being ejected from the park for non-compliance. This has always been policy, but may not have been effectively enforced. Just know that this gamble can lead to a very short day.

In addition, to save you or anyone's pain and agony: jumping from a moving or stopped boat, for any reason, means not only risking injury or death but immediate ejection from the property, a two-year tresspass warrant and possible arrest. Not many people are aware of this, and an alarming number of guests seem to get out of vehicles without assistance.

Also, as an added note:

Toon Lagoon will be getting its own set of lockers in the next month or two !!!!!

They will be on the same pay-per-use system as the lockers in Jurassic Park ($1.00 per hour). Haven't got the specifics on where they will be installed, although the goal is to have them in a central area between the two water rides on the island.

And to reiterate what IOATech said:

Yes, the official policy is that shoes & shirt must be worn at all times in the park. Honestly, seeing what I see everyday, you couldn't PAY me to walk around the park barefoot (eeccchhh!). SOME rides MAY allow you to take your shoes off during the ride (Dragons and Bluto's come to mind) but you MUST have your shoes with you at all times.

Am I getting this right?

Taking your shoes off while riding Popeye & Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges is okay. (?)

But walking around barefoot is not. (?)

Or did IOATech mean to say that if you're seen removing your shoes on Bilge Rat Barges you'll be thrown out of the park?

I believe the official policy is that shoes stay on while you board the boat at Popeye, but you can take them off when you enter. I wouldn't walk around the park barefoot. You might step on something you might regret. Besides, it'll be tough on the feet.

You can no longer even take your shoes off on Popeye..you hae to leave them on...and they will get wet, even if you put them up.

THANKS FOR ALL THE ADVICE. I THINK WE WILL WEAR OUR OLD SNEAKERS. LEAVING IN ONE WEEK!!
