I know after reading WestJet's website you can only to webcheck in if your flying within Canada, an Example being Toronto - Montreal. Anyway I just want to make sure that if you use their self serve check in kiosks at Toronto Pearson International Airport, you can check in for flights to the United States? You know just like you can use Air Canada's express check in kiosks for flights to the United States out of Terminal 2. So if anyone can answer this, I would appreciate it.

That's a really good question. Normally I would not think of this as we are trying to fly direct. Here is a little Westjet food for thought...I really want to fly Westjet....here is the rundown...flights for the five of us was 4244...GULP...flights for the five of us on Air Canada 3200 gulp....then AMA prices including taxes is 2600..that is getting better except the last flight is a layover in Denver both ways with really crummy flight times. We really really want to support Westjet out here but at that price they are forcing us to go elsewhere or wait for that much anticipated Jetmail that tells you about seat sales. On that note has anyone ever received Jetmail? Westjet has spent 2 weeks trying to get that newsletter out to me and NO ONE is savy enough technically to figure that out...Like I said I really want to flyt Westjet but they just are making it so unbelieveably difficult...what does one do?

I didn't mean to hijack your thread LOL my point being if we choose a cheapest flight I need to know your answer too!

The flights to USA check in at the opposite end of Terminal 3 from the Westjet domestic flights. You use a regular desk (no termoinals) and then clear customs in Toronto.

I am not sure how to answer your question, but here is the reason my family & I decided to try WestJet out for the 1st time. We looked at their price for an Open Jaw trip. For those that don't know Open Jaw means, flying into one city & flying back home from a different destination. Anyway the price on WestJet was cheaper then on Air Canada. The difference was not much, but we figure why not & it's for 3 people. Also we are kind of getting tired of waiting in those long lines Air Canada has sometimes in the mornings, plus I heard WestJet lines are much better. I know Air Canada has express check in, but sometimes their maybe a lot of people lined up for them & they could take a while if they have a lot of people to check in, or they have no clue how the process works.

I decided to quit beefin and went to the Westjet website and clicked on their interactive feedback and told them the same thing I said here. It will be nice to get a response...hopefully. We love Westjet...we are from Calgary...no bias here lol.

Good luck with whatever you find out from them.

CR Resort Fan - have you tried Sunwing for YYZ/MCO/YYZ? Their rates are AWESOME! :thumbsup2

I just booked someone for September 29th - October 6th ( after Sunquest cancelled their flight  ) for $273 Canadian taxes in!!

They were paying $440 with Sunquest, so it's actually a bonus that the Sunquest flight got cancelled. :teeth:

We have already booked our flights for December with WestJet, so we won't be changing that. Also since we are flying back home from Tampa & not Orlando, we wanted to do it ourself & not go threw a travel company like Sunwing. Thanks for the info though & it's something we can always consider for the future.

As WestJet's Official Biggest Fan here is what I know.

Currently only WestJet guests traveling domestically within Canada are able to use the Self-serve check-in kiosks and Web check-in. All guests traveling outside of Canada are asked to visit the check-in counters.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information & since your WestJet's official biggest fan, why can't you check in online or use the self serve kiosks when travelling to the United States?

My guess is security...

For example...

Basically, someone who doesn't have any checked baggage can get a boarding pass directly and procceed to security.

Web CI, same thing.

As well as the fact that US-Canadian flights are usually subject to more security procedures and regulations.

Just the other day as I was walking around closed check-in desks trying to collect bag tags at YYC, a US security person came up to me and sternly said "Sir, where are you going today?".

As much as I love Westjet...I have to ask the questions..............If Air Canada can use the kiosks for checkin (as well as advance seat booking),why can't Westjet ?
Whats the difference between the A.C. security process as opposed to Westjet's?

Good question. We even did web check-in with Air Canada when we went to Los Angeles...during that heightened security period last month. (That was cool....umm..using the web check-in I mean, not the heightened security.) And web check-in at LAX was available for the return trip as well (I didn't have a computer so I didn't use it.)

I wonder if it has something to do with paying somebody more money or something...or more money to verify travel documents such as passports or drivers' licences. Maybe they need some special software or certification to do that?

When flying within Canada, I can get/change my seating on their website through advance check in but if we are not able to use web check in, when can I see my seating.

We weren't able to find out where we were sitting until we were checking in at the airport.
