Westjet renews with airmiles

WestJet did not renew with Mosaik. I haven't figured out exactly how that affects the number of airmiles I will need to get tickets to Orlando for next February but I almost had enough (2800 air miles) for two tickets on WestJet.

You still have enough for 2 r/t tic to Orlando in Feb 2009 if you book right now! :thumbsup2

I called Airmiles today to see what is happening about the WestJet Mosaic Masercard deal

I was told that the Westjet offer that allows cardholders to buy a roundtrip airfare for 1400 in off season or 1600 in high season will end as of July 31st, 2008 ::sad::

But, that being said, you can still book using the airmiles you have and they are taking bookings up to mid Feb 2009 right now.

The rep told me that flights can be booked 300 days in advance, so if you want to use your current airmiles under this plan, you will have to do it before July 31st to get the best value for use of airmiles.

After July 31st, they will offer 20% discount off of regular amount of airmiles required.

I have 3200 airmiles right now and am looking over my calendar to see where & when I can use them to take advantage of the better offer.

Once July 31st is here, the value of the airmiles is depreciated ::yes::

Hope this helps :)

I booked 4 flights for our WDW trip in Feb 09 last Friday and got the discount. When I was on the airlimes website there was a flight chart that showed the the Westjet Mosaic discount for flights up to Feb 28, 2009. I think for flights after that date we may be SOL, but I hope not. I would like to know sooner than later what's going on. If I need to start collecting aeroplan points I would like to get that CC asap.

I guess I better get on it and book something for Xmas using all my airmiles up since the 20% will not be any kind of deal anymore :( I guess it's time to look at Aeroplan now :(

You can purchase airmiles once you have 1/2 what is required for your reward. I purchased a few for my next flight and it wasn't expensive.

I have flown 3 times using the 1400 airmiles option and loved it. Once I flew to Arizona from Toronto and back, and twice to Victoria and back from Toronto.

What happens to our westjet mosiac airmiles credit card? Mine doesn't expire until 2011? Are they going to replace it with the new Shell one, or come out with a new credit card?

BoM (Mosaik) was likely waiting for Westjet to renew before renegotiating their card with Westjet. After that is completed, look for a renewal with airmiles. I'm confident that the deal will get done.

I guess I didn't make myself clear in my original post. I got a letter from BMO Mosaik MasterCard telling me that they did not renew their contract with WestJet and that a new card would soon be issued to me that did not have the WestJet logo on it. I will still accumulate air miles but when I go to redeem them for flights it is with 20% off the number of airmiles normally needed and with any airline that is affiliated with Air Miles. I have until July 31/08 to redeem my airmiles for a flight using the WestJet formula of 1400 airmiles for low season and 1600 airmiles for high season.

I have the West Jet Mastercard from Bank of Montreal and I have not received any correspondence regarding my card being replaced.

My card is good till 2011.

Just spoke with the Air Miles folks, this is what I learned:

- AM & Westjet have renewed.

- Westjet & BMO have not.

- BMO now offers 20% reduction in the number of AirMiles it takes to fly on any partner airline.

- BMO NO LONGER offers the 1600/1400 AirMiles for flights on WestJet after the July 31, 2008.

- You have until the 31st of July to redeem AirMiles on Westjet at the low rate. After the 31st of July, your Airmiles totals and redemtion rate stay the same, but the amount needed for flying on Westjet will be the same as any other partner airline.

Worth noting: On the prerecorded message on today, April 10, 2008, Airmiles is saying they are only booking for the next 15 days in advance due to high call volumes. The rep I spoke with assured me this was only a temporary measure and I could still plan on using the low rates for flights in October. just not today.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention folks. Lurking is paying off!

My card is good until 2010.
The last paragraph in the letter I received states, "In keeping with a travel-inspired theme, we've redesigned your card and will mail you a new one before your existing card expires."

I won't be paying $90.00 a year and $15.00 for each additional card for the redesigned card. I only got this card for the 1400/1600 flights.

I will be changing back to the no fees airmiles card that gives 1 airmile for every $40.00.

So Bank of Montreal will not be getting my $120.00 every year.

Hear! Hear! This thread has been very informative, and I'll make sure to book my flights for September over the next several days to try for a direct flight via Westjet from Toronto to MCO. Since Mosaik won't be offering the Westjet deal after July, I'll have to seriously consider whether I want to keep the card.
