Does anyone know when Westjet will be posting their fares for Christmas time? I am trying to book my trip & thought I would see what they offer. The schedule is there, just not any fares. I ive in New Brunswick so there are not many flights to choose from. Air Canada is $696 return from Saint John to Orlando. The new discount airline in Bangor is just less than $400US return but not sure if I want to drive the 3 hr drive in the winter plus pay for hotels. What to do, what to do?????

did you try halifax and if you wait a while you can get canjet very cheap but they leave on sunday a freind of mind got a flight from halifax for 3 direct flight for $700 return so keep checking all different airlines sites and we use expeidia and got real good deals from bangor

so hope you find something :tinker:

I believe flying out of Halifax also gives you access to some of the US carriers which can be quite a bit cheaper than any of the Canadian carriers. Plus they tend to have seat sale more often.

Worst thing for me is that I live directly across the street from the Saint John airport so it kills me to drive 3-5 hrs just to get a cheaper flight. I also have to count gas, meals & hotel stay so most times it works out to be the same. I am also travelling alone cause I meet my family there (parents are snow birds) I just called Westjet to see if they knew when the fares would be posted. The lady I spoke with advised it should be soon & to keep checking back. I think I may just book Air Canada for $696 since last year I paid $945 for the same time.

We were able to pick up 5 seats on a seat sale today (AC) for our trip in November. I would start looking daily by going directly to the website or signing up for get set.

Do you mind me asking how much you paid per person?? We're looking to head down in January.

Our tickets are to LAX. We got direct flights...good flight times. It was 157 each way or both ways including ALL THE STUPID TAXES 429.72. We had a 500 AC flight credit and DH's ticket is paid for by his employer. All in all we got 5 seats for 1444.66cad.

Actually we just snagged our January flights today - $220 return + taxes per person from Edmonton :cool1:

Book now. I had my December flight on Westjet booked in February and the prices keep going up.

My family and I booked our December flight on WestJet from Toronto - Orlando and our flight back home from Tampa - Toronto on New Years Day, this past February.

Glad to hear you got a good deal. Which airline? Were you able to fly direct with those prices? Our situation was so complicated. Dh is flying in on one day for a conference and the other 4 of us are coming in on another day and we are all flying home together.

Northwest, and not direct (only 1 stop over in Minneapolis though). Unfortunately we can't get a direct flight from Edmonton.

when did you plan on going? I just pulled up Westjet and put in St. Johns-Orlando for Dec 22-29 and it gave me prices.. expensive.. lol but prices.. hope this helps

I am flying out of Saint John, NB .. not St.John's NF. I checked again today but still no prices. I think I will just book Air Canada. Thanks anyways

check out kayak.com - it will do a fare comparison for you of all the airlines and you can put in different cities as well. I was able to cut our airfare in half by flying out of Syracuse - well worth the 3 hour drive...

was it that big of a savings? what about passports? we're just northwest of ottawa and for what air canada and westjet want we said we'd drive.

Yup, it was a huge difference in $$$. Yes, you will need passports but I'm thinking that you may need them to drive anyways - you might as well get them now.

Are you staying on-site?? Then you won't need to rent a car. But if you are staying off-site then you'll probably want to rent a car (which of course, is something you don't need to do when you drive down!!).

You have to figure out both scenarios (driving vs. flying & renting a vehicle if required) and decide what's best for you.

Remember when you are looking at flights to be flexible - flying Saturday is the most expensive so if you can swing it go on Sunday and return Monday (that's what we're doing). kayak.com gives you the flexibility to look at flights (use the advanced search option).

Good luck in your planning (which is half the fun!!)!

Cheers,

I recently drove 6 and 1/2 hours to get a better flight with a local airport only 30 mins away. Depending on how much you can save it may be worth it to drive to Halifax. Maybe even try Moncton, I believe Canjet flies from there as well as Halifax.

Well I checked with passports office and if we drive down we dont need passports just birth certificates as per the norm. Yes we're staying on site we're going to be staying at POP. From all the reviews i've read about how busy it was hubby may not be too happy. lol We were there in April 2006 and had Easter AND Spring break so I thought well this isnt bad.. thinking Xmas would be like that.
We are booked at Disney for the Sunday.. coming home the monday I think it is but with it being Christmas I dont expect a great savings on the airfare.
