Hello y’all. Don’t know if this question has been asked before. But I am looking at starting at one of these properties Westin/Courtyard/JW Marriott for 6 nights on points. So cost isn’t a issue.
Just my wife and I, no kids. As I am a Titanium Elite Member with Marriott. I have stayed at The Courtyard before and loved everything about it 3 years ago for Pixar Fest. I know the benefits that I would get at each. But what do you all like, cons/pros. It seems the JW Marriott and Westin are a little far for a walk in the evening, or am I missing something?

thanks

The JW is clearly the nicest of the bunch (in terms of hard and soft product), but as you pointed out will also be the longest walk from the parks. I think the walk to the Westin vs. the Courtyard is a wash, really, assuming you go out through the GCH to get to the Westin. In that case, I would expect the Westin to win on amenities plus it's brand new, but the Courtyard has the nice water play area (if that matters to you).

As a titanium elite member, certainly you know NEVER to stay at a Courtyard if you can avoid it, due to the lack of elite benefits there! :D

We stayed at the JW a few months ago. The walk wasn't really too bad. We walked through the GardenWalk (JW has a back door entrance into the GardenWalk). But it only has valet parking, which in covid times we weren't thrilled with.

We didn’t think the walk was too bad either. And found it odd about the valet parking too. Plus that Peking fee!! Yikes. $40 for parking is a bit steep. Loved the hotel!
We have a video on the real time walk from JW if you want to check it out. Also have a room tour.

If you’re using points and have Marriott status, then go for the JW.

The walk from the JW Marriott to the Harbor entrance isn’t bad. BUT that’s all based on personal preference and walking stamina/desire.

As has been mentioned, you should walk out the “back” of the JW Marriott lobby into the garden, from there, there’s a gate into GardenWalk. That’ll shave some time off the walk.

We really enjoyed the new Westin (as you might gather if you read my review mentioned earlier ;) )The walk was not that bad- about 15 min to DTD for us and that includes going thru security. I don’t have exact time to the gates because we stopped at Starbucks West both days.

I did specifically notice and commented to my daughter that we didn’t encounter any panhandling or homeless on the walk. There is one bus stop you walk through at Katella and Disneyland Dr/West St but it was “unoccupied” every time we walked by. All but the crossing of Katella and the 100 feet or so you have to walk on Katella to the Westin entrance are on Disney property.

I haven’t stayed at the JW but have stayed at the Courtyard. The Courtyard has some great features for families (bunk beds, two shower areas, waterpark area etc) but it doesn’t sound like your party has particular need for any of that. The Courtyard is nice enough but the Westin was definitely a big step up.

The Westin has both valet and self parking for the same rate ($35/day) and they will let you leave your car there all day on checkout day, if it matters. I don’t know if the Courtyard still allows that or not as parking is a bit tighter there (and valet only).

We had the the same decision recently but we are only Gold. We ended up at the Courtyard. It was closer to walk and the Water Park. We had an entire day with no park tickets to play in the water. I love the Westin and maybe since you have a higher status you could get upgraded.
We enjoyed the Courtyard which I normally avoid! The room was big, my son loved the bunk beds, my favorite part was two showers! No waiting in line for everyone else.

The bathroom setup is nice there. Two sinks and two showers. But I would get a suite at the Westin. I have ruled out the JW. Based on what I hear, they are not taking care of the elite members. Plus their pool is on the east side of the hotel tower.
