We got a 2 bd - 2 ba Villa for 65/night. Late June for 7 nights. Anyone stay here? Is it nice? How far from the parks? Is it worth a timeshare presentation? or am I better off looking at some of the hotels? any advice appreciated. I can cancel for $25 charge; so its nbd. its our first time orlando and want to stay at a nice place. Family of 5; kids 12-9-8.

nothing is worth a timeshare presentation at Westgate - they are sharks

any other places worth looking into or are they all the same? I'm thinking I'm agreeing with you.

As a previous poster said, NOTHING is worth enduring a Westgate timeshare presentation.

Forget 60-90 minutes. It is a high-pressure, no holds barred presentation that will suck up a good 4 hours of your day. They will insist on taking you out to visit units to try to change your mind, etc.

Their motto is "If you're not buying, you're crying".

If you really want to stay at a Westgates timeshare you can usually pick up "hotel rate" condos for not a whole lot of money and no presentation required. Not that I would ever recommend Westgate again after my experiences last year, but I used to get a 2BR at the Lakes in the April time frame for around $119/night, which includes housekeeping services, with no presentation required.

If you don't mind timeshare presentations, there is a site Stay here play here and for the presentation they have a lot of great places to stay cheap.

I will almost agree 100%.

We did the timeshare presentation at Westgate Lakes last year and in return got a wonderful two bedroom, two bathroom villa for $69 per night including daily housekeeping. An amazing rate.

That said.......the timeshare presentation was as bad as everyone said it would be. Luckily for us, we were prepared and planned accordingly. That stay was our second of three trips in 2012, so we were looking for ways to slash the budget but not sacrifice comfort, and this was a good way to do so. However, if you can avoid the presentation, I strongly recommend you do so. It is not for the faint of heart :crazy2: .

It all depends on the sales person you get and how you react to their pitch. We went to a presentation there a few years ago and it wasn't bad at all. It's a nice enough resort. I can think of several others that are nicer in the area, but that is definitely a good price. As long as you are firm with them and don't let them talk you into anything, you'll be fine.

I used to own a timeshare at Westgate Vacation Villas, DDD7. It was big, 2 BDRs, 2 baths and it was a corner unit. Very nice place but as the years went on maintenance went downhill and then unit was showing its age. I sold it off because we were getting tired of not being able to get an exchange, there were so many issues. The timeshare presentation is like shark diving in a cage and is certainly not for the faint of heart. They even try to press owners to buy another unit during the maintenance review. My advice, there is no such thing as a sure thing.

That's an incredible rate. Just decide if it's worth your time.

We exchanged our timeshare week for a week at Westgate. It was fine. We did not have to do the presentation though, so I can't speak to that. It was an okay place to stay.

That seems to be the general sentiment about every Westgate property. Westgate Lakes have certainly gone downhill over the past 15 years, to the point where I will go out of my way to NOT stay at a Westgate property.

With companies like Vacation Upgrades and Vacation Strategies re-selling Wyndham points for next to dirt cheap rates there isn't much reason for anyone to choose to stay at a Westgate instead of Bonnet Creek.
