Westgate Vacation Villas or Priceline?

Hi all,
I am normally not an impulsive person and plan all of my WDW trips months in advance. However, we have an opportunity to be in Florida in the next two weeks and I am looking into places to stay. My friend is an RCI member and looked up the "last call" vacations during our dates and all that came up was a 2-bedroom villa at Westgate Vacation Villas. I have read MANY negative reviews about this place and I am concerned. We stayed at Vistana recently and had no problems with salespeople or dirty accomodations. Is it worth taking the chance and booking this villa or should I just take my chances with a 3* on Priceline? Any advice is appreciated.

what is your dates?

sometimes a 1-bedroom and studio would work just as well as a 2-bedroom - would be more expensive

1-bedroom $149
studio $99
2-bedroom $199

you realized that with priceline you will get a hotel room.

not a villa?

Have you tried www.hotelkingdom.com ? They usually have some pretty good rates. We stayed at Westgate VV and DH would rather not go to FL than stay there again. It was pretty bad. BUT some people do have a good experience too. There are just too many consistently nice places in the area to chance throwing your vacation away on that place if you ask me.

Thanks for your replies. Yes, I do know that I will get a hotel room. However, if WVV is really that bad, I am willing to forego a villa. I've had much success with PL over the years and with the exception of one stay, had great rooms in nice hotels. I will read the other reviews and check out Hotel Kingdom, thanks. My dates are 12/17/-12/25. I think $199 for a 2-bedroom for a week is a pretty good deal!

Hi there. My family just got back from a week staying in the Westgate Vacation Villas. We absolutely loved it. We were in one of the renovated suites and it was clean and gorgeous. It was also from an RCI member. Our salesperson was friendly but definetly wanted to sell us on it. I just took it as it came, he was there to do his job. I just listened and declined all offers.

I would definetly go back their again. It was very conveinent to Disney and the price was right.

Hi!

I looked at Skyauction and found
7 Nights in a 1 BR Suite at the Celebration World Resort in Kissimmee, Florida near Disney!
with a check-in of 12/17 available.
Still at a $1 bid (+ 195 + something else, I'm still learning)

Have fun picking and planning!

now I can remember CWR!!!

one of my favorites. of course I travel with my cat, Spicey. this timeshare allows pets....

it is small and the people here really care and try to make your visit as pleasant as possible.

Thank you for your responses. I checked out your pics, Spicey. CWR looks nice. We haven't decided if we will actually take this trip. We obviously don't have much time, so I guess I will have to figure something out soon.

We stayed at Westgate Vacation Villas in March in a 2 bedroom with loft and loved it. We rented from an owner via Redweek.com and got the whole week for $500, the villa accommodated 10 people. We took our family (4) plus my mom, dad and brother. The villa was beautiful, had everything we needed. Staff was friendly and the grounds were nice, though we were at Disney so much we didn't use much of anything there.

The only thing we had with sales was she told us we needed to have an owners/maintenance meeting before left (we weren't the owners, just renting from one) They called and left a message once to call and set up the appointment, we didn't. They never bothered us again. Checked us right out without another word about it. Would definately stay there again.

vacation villa at parkway also have this deal.

I haven't stayed here - but it gets good reviews - both hear and tug.

Thanks so much for looking this up for me, Spicey. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, we will not be taking the trip after all due to a personal family situation. We will spend the holidays at home this year (we have been at WDW for the past two Christmases).

Thanks again! :flower:

We just stayed at WVV the last week in October. We went through skyauction which is processed as an exchange-and exchangers are put in the oldest section per the salesperson. It was a 2 bedroom and comfortable, but not fancy. No big screen tv or big jacuzzi tub, was done in older, cheaper materials, but in decent shape and not dirty. Westgate is notorious for the hard sell, the 'maintenace meeting' is really a sales pitch. We had stayed here before so we knew better. The location is wonderful, out the road across 192 and you're on the back route to WDW. The newer rooms on the website look lovely, the older rooms look nothing like that:) If you get a real good price and are willingly to tell the sales people where to go and how to get there, it's not bad. It's certainly not worth $100+ a night-at least not the old units.
