Has anyone stayed here? Would you recommend it? Thank you!

stayed at Westgate Villa several times - use to own it - the sales people are the main problem.

the resort is lovely and housekeeping seems to be excellent.

it is just avoiding the sales people that problem arise. even never answering the phone - they come and to the door....:rotfl2:

We stayed there once and I HATED it! We were supposed to stay at Westgate Villas and they overbooks so they sent us over. Our unit was supposed to sleep 8 people, but just the four of us had a hard time moving around that tiny unit. The dining table folded into the wall and it would only seat 3 people, and one of those people had to be sitting on the couch, and if the couch was pulled out into a bed then you had to climb over it to get out of the door!

Thanks, happy I cancelled me reservation!!!! They told me I was getting a studio when I paid for a one bedroom, called and cancelled.

Good for you! We only stay at Bonnet Creek now (and sometimes Vistana because we own a week there) and are never disappointed. Try looking on redweek.com, we stayed there two weeks ago in a three bedroom we found on redweek for 850 and we found our friends a 2 bedroom presidential on eBay for 670! I promise you won't be disappointed!

We stayed there in June for our family reunion and I agree that it has improve A LOT in the last 10 years! I hadn't stayed there in a while because it was so outdated, but our unit we had in June was super nice! Plus, you can't really beat their super pool!

Same here! We were there in '04 for our honeymoon and when we went back in '10 it was amazing how much it changed! I love it and would recommend it to anyone!

I agree - if Westgate did allow pets - is the only reason that I stay there.

Sheraton Vistana and Wyndham Bonnet creek are both really great.

When they tell you you'd be getting a studio, after paying for a one bedroom? We'll be there next week (Oct 27th-Nov 3rd). I always stay onsite at WDW, but a coworker offered me a one bedroom at Westgate Town Center for $400.00. Couldn't resist that price, so switched from CBR just a couple of weeks ago. The paperwork they emailed her, said it was a one bedroom. I guess I should mention it, to make sure I get the one bedroom she booked.

The paperwork my coworker gave me that had the confirmation info on it, has a section that mentions pets. It says Pet Policies: A $75.00 refundable deposit is required at check in. If there is no damage at check out the deposit will be returned. A separate $80.00 nonrefundable cleaning fee is required at check in. One pet (one cat or dog) allowed under 60 lbs. There are breed limitations. Guests with service animals will not be charged any of the above fees.

I don't have the paperwork here with me, but there was something about a refundable deposit, then another deposit that is not refundable if the pet makes a mess.

After booking through a timeshare co., I called westgate the next day to confirm they received it. The lady said "yes I see you booked a studio with us" I said, I booked a 1 br. After going back and forth a couple times, she said "well it's like a one bedroom but we call it a studio. It's a lot smaller than a 1br. And you don't get a full kitchen. Then she said, "there's no balcony either". After that, I called the timeshare co. immediately to cancel. All I could picture was a hotel room.

When you call them, ask if you have a full kitchen and balcony. That is where the difference is, from what I understood. Also, did she give you her room number? If its a studio, it will have an "S" in front of it. Good luck and have a good trip!

No there is not a room number on the confirmation she gave me, but under Villa Description it says: 1 Bedroom, King Bed and Queen Sleeper Sofa, Fully Equipped Kitchen with a maximum occupancy of 4.

OK, I just called Westgate and they verified I was booked into a 1 bedroom, not a studio.

yes the extra price for having a pet is $80. and yes before I made the reservation called them and got told my cc would be charged $155 - but it was only charged for the $80.

had cats

start reading the reviews on westgate - boy they are bad.

my 2-bedroom villa (yea the cats had their own room) - was pretty nice. It was certain clean and in fairly good shape.

that say would not have slept on the sleeper sofa - the sofa was in bad shape.

did not see any bed bugs - and the other bugs my cats would have gone after before they got too far in the villa.

they were chasing something - but not sure if it was real or they were just playing.

they loved the screened in patio - and really enjoyed the place - since this was their first trip - it worked pretty good for us.

oh the different may be $80 - accordingly to westgate the pet units get an extra heaving cleaning when the pet owners (w/pets) checks out. Now since my cats definitely smelled something - don't know how good this job is.

I've not stayed in Town Center, but I have stayed for many years in Westgate Lakes, but never again. Westgate as a whole seems to be not doing very well based on various reviews I've seen and personal experience. The units at Lakes are aging very poorly. Many buildings are in serious need of refurbishment and modernization (tube TVs? Really??). Lakes seems to suffer from roving bands of teenagers, at least the past two Aprils I've been there. My car was vandalized on my last trip there.

And as everyone else already said, avoid the sales people! They are seriously annoying and seriously delusional. They couldn't fathom the concept that I had zero interest in owning a property there. Didn't even make sense to them. They were completely incredulous that I would prefer keeping an ADR for a character breakfast at Disney than attending a sales breakfast at Westgate.

OK, we just got back late last night from Westgate Town Center. We had the opposite experience of alot of people I guess. We were in building 5900 in a wonderful one bedroom that was spotless (no paint chipping, scratches, marks on floors or walls, jacuzzi tub and also shower both very clean, not a spot of dust anywhere). The King bed was fairly comfortable, but the queen sofa bed was not, according to my mom. Everyone we met was very friendly and helpful. When we checked in last Saturday, the lady checking us in took us over to another lady, who showed us the VIP card for owners (we were renting from an owner). She mentioned a welcome breakfast she could schedule us for and after the breakfast said we would get the VIP card, which would entitle us unlimited use of the amenities (mini gold, paddle boats, gym, etc). I told her we were not interested. She asked us only one time if we were sure, then said 'no problem', and never mentioned it again. I was afraid the guy that escorted us to the unit, might try to pressure us, but he never said a word, nor did anyone else during the week. We didn't meet a single high pressure salesman and after checking in, nothing was even mentioned to us about buying in.

We were assigned a unit on a lower floor, but I asked if we could be moved to a higher floor and we were placed in building 5900 just a few doors down from the elevator. We never heard a sound though the entire week. Our balcony faced a courtyard that had ducks wandering around every morning, but if you glanced to the right you saw pool #14 and if you glanced to the left you saw the lake with the bridge over it. It was a perfect location. We'd definitely return.
