Dees anyone know if the new western way road is open yet? We would love to try it out if it is. We can't seem to find anything on any map websites. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

I have read that it is supposed to be open later this year, last year Dec. we took HIWAY 535 at the suggestion of posters on this board and it cut about a hour off my drive. 535 goes directly into disney if you take Visa blvd. and passes the main gate with no gate checks. We were going to FW so this road went directly there.

I am assuming you traveled I-10 from Texas to Florida, then got on I-75 south ? :confused3 Could you advise the rest of your route ? Thanks ! :listen:

I usually go I 75 to the Florida Turnpike and used to go to I 4 and then to Disney but I 4 is very busy as we try to arrive early. The last time we exited the Turnpike at Cr 50 and took 535 to Vista Blvd which leads you to FW, WL and the main road. 535 will run into I-4 if you keep going. The new Western Way sounds like it might be faster when it opens.

Thanks becky1960 !!! :thumbsup2

In January, we took the new 429S Toll Road to 192 then only 2 miles to World Drive.

Take I-75 South, then get on the Florida Turnpike, then take 429S to 192, then turn left on 192, the take the World Drive exit.

The new Western Way entrance into Disney World should open some time in April and will be off of 429S just before you get to 192.

I know this is open, but what is funny is I have yet to find a map (online or print) that shows 429 completed. If you are going before the disney world connector is open, that two mile trip on 192 can take forever.

We take the turnpike to the 429 western beltway, but we exit at 535 and take that to vista blvd. It is 2 lane divided highway with no traffic very nice drive

Anyone know the best way from Sarasota? We've always come in from the north east before.

Once again from today's (3/27/06) O-S:

Orlando Sentinel - Western Way, the new rear entrance to Walt Disney World from the new Western Beltway expressway, is set to open April 4.

The four-lane, divided boulevard will give Disney a western entrance for the first time, allowing tourists coming in via Interstate 75 to enter Central Florida on Florida's Turnpike and the Western Beltway (State Road 429), then enter Disney without ever entering Orlando or driving on Interstate 4.

The Western Beltway opened between Winter Garden and U.S. Highway 192 in Osceola County in December.

The new Disney road will come off the expressway at an interchange built by Florida's Turnpike Enterprise near Hartzog Road. Western Way will go east into Disney property, then turn south and connect with West Buena Vista Drive not far from Blizzard Beach and Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Florida's Turnpike Enterprise expects to erect signs on the turnpike and State Road 429 directing people along the new route to Disney, turnpike spokeswoman Christa Deason said. Disney also is expected to do some advertising of the new route.

The signs are already made, not sure if they are up yet. They were sitting on a truck on the side of the highway back in late January, ready to be installed. The WDW archway is also complete, saw it in January too.

Since the road will be complete soon, sounds like an excuse for a ROAD TRIP!!!!! :teeth:

I took 535 last year and it lead directly to FW, now that I have looked at the map I don't know if Western Way will be faster as 535 bypasses the 192 and Main gate.

One nice thing about using 429 it that right where it intersects 192 there is a Publix where one can restock before heading into the world
