Western Union....UGH

SO I pay my car payment through Western Union Speedpay and have been for YEARS. Never had an iussue (my car loans website automatically directs you to pay through them). This month I pay my car payment as usual and all is fine. Till I check my bank statement today and we are down the amount of my car payment times 2. Seems they took it out twice! Now it wouldn't be a huge deal because it'll just be a double payment towards my car loan and we want to pay it off quick (the acct didnt actually go negative but it was minus the car payment amount from where I thought we should be) but it never showed on my car loan AND we are closing on our new house Friday--I had plans for that $450 this week since I saved and budgeted to have that (we'll now have 2 bathrooms and I wanted to get new stuff for there, and some window treatments for the house).
I am waiting to hear from DFiance if they are going to remedy this. Even if they do I don't see it happening right away.

GRRRR! Ok just had to vent! LOL. Ive never had a problem paying bills online. I double paid something on my own once accidently (forgot I paid it) and it worked in my favor as I got a huge credit with the gas company and didn't owe for 4 months (went from winter to summer so the bill was less).
 
Update:

Western Union (after talking to 4 reps and then being given the # to their "Speed Pay Customer Service Center" ) finally informed us they have been getting calls for 2 days straight from customers this happened to. Apparently anyone who made a payment through their site on Friday or Saturday had this happen. So.....we are on "the list" of people to recieve a credit.

I guess I am relieved they will credit us--but now I really need to do # crunches since we have a lot going on this week with the move.
 
Just out of curiosity, doesn't Western Union charge a fee to pay bills, which you bank would do for free?

Yes. Sadly I pay a $5 convenience fee monthly. I tried to set it up through my bank for direct payment but they don't recognize my lending company (Triad Financial which bought my loan a year or so ago). If I pay Triad directly or over the phone it is $8. I could mail the payment and save the $5 a month but I literally went paperless on every bill I could a few years ago so there is no statement to pay (plus I don't use check at all). I guess it is my own fault since these things can happen but it was very bad timing for us this week.
 

Your bank doesn't recognize it?

My bank doesn't 'recognize' every biller I pay...but they give me the opportunity to enter all the information for ANY payee I want. I could send a check to my sister through on-line bill pay if I wanted.

Have you checked to see if your lender can initiate the on-line payment? I have a couple of bills I pay that way, via the payee instead of the bank.

I will definitely look into that! Our car loan will be paid off in February but the thought of not having to pay another month with Western Union is great.
