My better half has only 6 weeks to figure out where to spend her money on our upcoming Western cruise. For those of you who have already "Been There and Done That", what bargins did you find in Cozumel and Grand Cayman? Where should she look and what should she not waste time on.
She is especially interested in jewelry, imagine that.

Thanks,
Russ and Miss Vivian

Don't expect any bargains in Caymans. In Cozumel, you can find jewelry but expect to work for it. I found the shopkeepers there very aggressive and annoying. If you show the least bit of interest, they will follow you around the store and you aren't allowed to look at your leisure. Not even at the nicer shops. As long as you're prepared for this, you can find bargains but don't ever pay what they quote to begin with, lowball so you can meet somewhere in the middle. Example: Shopkeeper quoted me $45 for a big mexican blanket, we said $15. We ended up getting it for $20. The first price they give you will be more than 2x what you should end up paying.

And FYI - there won't be any price tags on anything... you have to say "how much" hence the people following you around :(

Thanks for the tip about bargaining in Cozumel. I have no idea when it comes to that sort of thing. I like the original quote divided by two is what I should be paying rule, and low balling it to get there. I'm going to use that in January. Games, games, games.
