Western or Eastern?

I am going on a cruise in a couple of years. Which should I go on the Western or the Eastern? I went on the Eastern last year and I loved it. Is the Western comparable/better?

Thanks.

I enjoyed both itinerary's! I don't think I have a favorite. Keep in mind though that you have one less day at sea on the Western.

I like the western ports that DCL offers. However, since the route is new, the price for going on the western is higher than the eastern. Eastern has better shopping and the Western has better water sports in my opinion. If cost is a factor at all for you, I would go with the eastern.

Same here....we just got back from the Western and did the Eastern twice before. I really do not have a favorite. I loved the Western ports more, but also really enjoy the extra sea day on the Eastern.

If I sail again, it won't be based on intinerary, but price and available of when we can go. Whatever itinerary it is would be alright with me.

I hope that a lot more people respond to this thread. I would love as many opinions as possible. Trying to decide. Leaning toward Eastern as of now. I will keep checking back for more opinions. ;)
Thanks!

Just got back from the Western, our first cruise ever and we loved it. But I will choose to do the Eastern cruise next time. We had a great time at Key West (Wave Runner Tour of Island)and Grand Cayman (Awesome Snorkeling), but would have skipped Cozumel all together. We enjoyed Grand Cayman the most and would choose to spend our time on the British Islands more.

On our last cruise in November, which was Eastern, we were unable to dock at Castaway Cay. We therefore had 3 days at sea. Too many in my opinion. OUr next cruise is in May and will be Western. This way, if we can't dock at CC, we will have had at least 3 others ports, and only 2 days at sea. By that 3rd day at sea, cabin fever had set in among the masses...

Thank you for your replies. Looking at our calendar and school schedule, we have just about decided on Eastern. :smooth:

You can't go wrong either way you go. We did the Eastern in 2001, the Western this past July and chose to do the Western again next July for the specific reason of doing Stingray City again. We're keeping our fingers crossed for a West coast ship after that..... (hope DCL reads this)

We chose Western, mainly for a chance for DW and DSD to see the Mayan ruins. I was also attracted by going to Key West and Stingray City.

I've only cruised the Western, but loved every moment of it! I've heard some of the Eastern ports aren't so clean/nice- maybe an Eastern cruiser can confirm/deny that.
Also, an extra day at sea is not always a plus. I think having just two days at sea on the Western is about right. I, for one, wouldn't se an extra day on the ship as a plus necessarily.
...but my one word argument for the Western would have to be: COZUMEL!!!

We did the Western this July and really enjoyed all the ports, but our favorite days were the days at sea. We are going to do the Eastern the next time so we will have 3 days at sea instead of 2.
