Western Magic Shopping

We Are taking the 12/21 Magic X-mas Western Cruise.

I have already informed my DH I'll take care of my own X-mas gift this year . I wanted to buy myself a nice piece of jewlery and was hoping I could get some advise on where would be a reputable place for this in the ports we will be stopping (Cozumel, Grand Cayman). Also, if anyone has had any less than positive experiences, where I should steer clear of.

Any advise at all would be greatly appreciated.

I didn't buy any jewelry during my western cruise but, they do give out shopping guides for each port in your navigators. Also, the personal shopper on board is very informative and she does a seminar on each port in regards to shopping. Where to go and which places are recommended by DCL. Her "talk" is also repeated on a loop on the TV in your stateroom. I hope this helps.

just an fyi, grand cayman will be very expensive, so you may want to buy in cozumel...

I have purchased jewelry twice in Cozumel. I bought a pendant at Goodmark jewelers and a bracelet at Rachat & Romero. Good experiences at both.

My wife and I just returned from a Carnival Cruise (I should post the review to compare with Disney) that sailed a Western route.

Although prices are higher in Grand Cayman, we did find a nice place off the main strip that was good. It was the British Outpost. My wife foudn some very attractive black coral for WAY less than the Passman or Richard artwork. The salesman there was VERY helpful and not a bit pushy.

There is a lot to see in Cozumel and silver is priced well - but we found the shops to be pushier and lower in quality there. It all depends on what you are looking for. I would recommend going with a price in mind and know what things cost back home before making a purchase.

We purchased in Cozumel. Prices were comparable to St Maarten. We went to the recommended place. Check with the "purple badge" lady!
