Heys are there any western canada dvc'er out there other than us?? :confused3

I own at SSR. Was hoping to get some GCV as well but don't want 100 points.

How far east do you consider to be west :confused3 ?

I would count us as Western DVCers - owners at OKW :thumbsup2

Fellow 'pegger over here with SSR ownership! Our goal is to have enough to spend maybe 2 winter months down in WDW!

OK, so I'm not a DVC owner, but I have been thinking about it and I am from western Canada too. So maybe you can give me some insight as to whether it is worthwhile/advantagous for my family.

The cast - Me34, DH35, DD7, DS4, DS3.

We have been to WDW twice, but stayed offsite both times - 1st because it was free sharing with a friend and 2nd time there were 10 of us so it was cheaper this way. So I have never stayed onsite at all, although I would like to.

We love WDW and would like to go once a year or every 18 months or so. For 2 weeks at a time. We aren't luxury people, we just need a basic bed for all of us - not a sofa bed - and somewhere to keep snack and drinks. I did a brief look at renting points and it seemed a little cheaper in cost to booking the hotel directly. SO that gives me an idea on that, but what about yearly fees - how much are those?

Trying to figure the whole thing out.

Thanks
Vickie

If you want general information on whether it's right for you, there are a number of threads on DVC forums on the DISBoards. You could also check out AllEars or Mouse Savers for information, including the current maintenance fees (the annual fees payable for each point you own).

We have a small contract bought through resale. The original idea was to buy enough points to go every 2 years, but we haven't stuck to that schedule (We've gone every year :cool1: ). It has worked well for us as we like a one bedroom unit and have gone off-season to help strectch our points. Where you will be in a different spot is that, as a family of 5, you will need to book a 2 bedroom unit (Max occupancy in the studios and one bedrooms is 4 persons).

There's a huge amount of info on the DVC boards here, so definitely check them out as well. Hopefully this can get you started on your research.
