We are still deciding on a date with another family. January is much cheaper and mostly works for all of us. A concern is the water temperature...any thoughts on Western Caribbean this time of year? Warmer than Eastern? My sister cruises in Feb a few years ago and Castaway Cay water was chilly but I’m hoping W Caribbean would be noticeably warmer...

Water temp is fine year-round in the Caribbean. Castaway may be cooler but not cold.

The ocean is big, which means significant temperature changes take a lot of time.

Water will definitely be warm south of Cuba, no worries! Been multiple times, Western (and Eastern); November, January, February.
The only question is the Bahamas - we had a wonderful warm day there in early February, but it can be downright chilly. The water temp was too cold for me on two occasions in January.

We did WC in Jan 2017, all places were nice and warm. Only CC water was really chilly, lots of people were in the water though. We were at CC this past March and I found the water was still just as chilly as in Jan. I'd rather hang out in a beach chair with a drink anyway, so still a great time, especially when it beats the freezing weather back home.
