Western Caribbean April 30, 2011?

Thanks for the info! :thumbsup2 Out of curiosity I called DCL and was told for 2010 and 2011 we have the option to stay on site and for another $1. per person we can get transportation from on site to port. Now as it is early here I will explain my babblin, LOL ;) We already purchased the transprotation from airport to port and vise versa, but for another $1 they will take us to onsite and pick up to take to Port. Thinking that is quite the deal. Then after the cruise it is from port to airport. Ofcourse we have to pay additionally for on site. Just will give us a reason to stay at a resort we have not as of yet. Although it is not booked, sounds like it will be CVR!
And they have added resorts for pick up. Last time we went I think it was only the deluxes. Well I know AKL was one as that is where we stayed and were picked up.

Have a good day:goodvibes, Mary

Yes, those options are already available and work out really well if you want to spend the night at disney for sure!

We have tentatively booked this cruise. Would be our 2nd cruise. We just did the Mediterranean cruise with Disney and booked this cruise for next year while on board on the Magic.

Interested in any input from anyone who has done Western Caribbean before on these ports of call, Disney shore excursions or even weather this time of year. We figured the weather would be much better for a warmer climate vacation in Spring than if we did a Caribbean vacation in winter and our girls would enjoy this more in spring vs if we went in the winter in case we ended up with a cooler weather week.

DH and I did the Western on May 2, 2009 and the weather was GREAT!!! We enjoyed it so much that DH wants to do the same itinerary this time around. As for excursions, there are lots to choose from, of course ours were more "adult" orientated because it was only DH and I. We did a lot of snorkeling, and also the aqua boat tour in the Caymans. For families with young children, the turtle farm is great! What types of activities do your children like and how old are they?

Oh, and welcome!!! :goodvibes

Thanks for input and the welcome. My kids are 10 and 11 currently, will be 12 and 11 at the time of this cruise. They know how to swim very well, have done snorkeling, kayaking, swimming with the dolphins, etc before. I was hoping the weather would be nice and very warm. Assume the water for snorkeling, swimming, etc wasn't cold this time of the year? They like animals so a turtle farm might be a neat thing for them to do too. On Castaway Cay - can you do alot of things without signing up for an excursion through Disney? I saw that Disney shows some shore excursions on their web site you can pick.

We just did the Disney Med cruise which was a very port intensive cruise. My reaction looking at the shore excursions in these ports given what Disney is showing now, this is a very different type of cruise, and probably a more relaxing experience. We spent so many days on the Med cruise in port all day visiting museums, historical sites, art, etc and did the same thing after the cruise as we stayed in Barcelona for awhile. We had fun and it was a wonderful trip and experience, but some days it was tough on our kids so they would prefer to do a Caribbean cruise. They also got very little time to do things on the ship. They enjoyed the sea days, activities in the kids club, pools, etc on the ship.

We just got off of the wonder 3 day, and booked for this cruise! We got our Same room number 6576! Can't wait! We just got off and I am ready to get back on!

What are the ages of the kids on this Cruise? My DD is going to be 10 at the time. Are we going to do the FE's?

Dianatlol, not at all, I don't tend to check it everyday. Thinking others are the same way.
Our 18 year old will not be going, the one that will be 17 at time of sailing wants to go. Honestly, when the time gets here I dont believe he will go.
As for blodg, there 4 legged son will stay home.
Assume you were asking others, but was hoping to boost some activity on here. pirate:

Guess I am a thread killer

Hey!

Sorry, I would have replied but for some reason I didn't get notification that someone had replied on the thread. WELCOME!!!

We did FE on our last cruise and was a lot of fun! Hopefully there will be enough people interested this time around.

There are quite a few things to choose from on Castaway Cay, and now they have the water play area which will be great for the kids (or big kids..lol)
We found that the day just flew by on Castaway. I did the parasailing and by the time I did that, it was lunch and then a bit of snorkeling and it was over:sad2: I don't think I even had time to sit on my lounger.

You can see on the website all of the excursions that are available, best thing to do if you want info would be to pick a few and ask for opinions on the main page and on here, that way you will get lots of opinions.

Key West was the only port we didn't do an excursion in. We walked all the way down to the Southern most point and the butterfly museum. Also went for Key Lime Pie and Margaritaville. We will do something different this next time, another museum perhaps and then Margaritaville:laughing:

Hope no one minds, I put together a list so far of who is on our cruise thread. I haven't put any real names other than mine (well firstly, because I don't know any names). If you would like your names on, just let me know. Let me know what you think

Thanks for input/advice.

I have looked at the excursions on the Disney site for these ports to get some early ideas. Assume they will stay same or if they change, assuming not radical changes. Certainly have plenty of time to plan/think about what we will do.

Guess I am a thread killer

For me, as the cruise is still quite a bit out in time, I have periodically checked this thread. As the cruise gets closer or I have periods of more time, will check more frequently. And per your other post, we have 2 children who will be 11 and 12 at the time of the cruise. They will want to do things with other kids on the cruise in similar age ranges.
