East Coast of the USA is up and moving.....2 kids off to school already...1 more to go.

Gretchen was nominated for the Principle Award at her school. I was thinking she was nominated cause she got to visit her so much...:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

No really, Gretchen is a great kid and everyone loves her. She has to write an essay and have an interview. There are 250 6th graders at her school and 6 were nominated and when I saw the competition, I think she might have a pretty good chance.

We are going to an award ceromony for Vanessa this morning at the high school. WE have a meeting this afternoon with the High Scholl Admin ... they have changed their minds and won't let her walk in Graduation and she is bummed. I am going to pull some strings and see if we can make it happen.

Vegas is not really my cup of tea either. Or, as Marilyn would say, I don't really fancy it. :) I have to be really, really rested before we go and I only want to stay a couple of days at the most, and not often, every 10 years or so is enough for me.::yes::

My parents used to live just 60 miles from Vegas so we spent a lot time there. It was nice though because all we had to do was go in for a few hours and then we could get out again. It is a place that I wouldn't care to spend more than a couple of days in. It it is much to frenetic for me. The city isn't bad once you get off the Strip, though. Much like any other big city.

Hi Deborah.

I think the jetlag is worse because of the 8 hour time difference instead of the 5 normally for Florida, plus the fact that we were away for a longer time. We are still not back to normal. I also think it must be worse for you with the timing of your flight home.

I hope Olivia's tooth is sorted ok. She is such a cute little thing and I loved chatting to her - when I could get a word in!!!!!!;)

Hope Ian's first day in his new job goes well too.

I hate the weather.:worried: I finally gave up on my cropped trousers as I was just too cold and did what I was dreading and put my long trousers on that I wore just before the cruise. Amazing - they still fit!

Marilyn and Deb,

So sorry to hear that your weather is so bad. We finally have gotten summer here. It will be in the 80's all week. But then next week it could be in the 60's or 70's. That's Ohio. We are supposed to have thunderstorms this afternoon.

I lived in San Antonio for almost two years and had my fill of Mexico. I probably wouldn't get off again in Aca but did enjoy the zip line in PV and the dolphins in Cabo. They were also very pretty cities but they aren't a must for me to see either. The thing I loved about the cruise was the time at sea. It was the first cruise we were able to actually use our verandah for any length of time and really relax. That is, without feeling that we were missing something. The company certainly made this trip exceptional, also.
I would do it again in a heart beat, just for those two reasons. The ports were neither here nor there.

Congrats to Gretchen. How awful for Vanessa. Just because she is an exchange student is no reason not to let her experience the joys of her last year. Hope you are able to get the strings pulled. Can't figure out where a lot of the schools are coming from anymore.

Well done Gretchen. What great children you have Lisa.

Shame for Vanessa. I hope you manage to change their minds.

I loved the sea days so much - one of the reasons in the beginning that I wanted this cruise.

If I did the same itinerary again, then I would just get off for a walk in Aruba and Cabo and very possibly Aca, just for the exercise and might have to get back on very quickly!(;) ). Might do something in PV though.

We enjoyed Vegas when we had a few days there in 1996 and would like to go back. I suppose it is something so very different to anywhere here.

Can't believe just a week ago today we were about to begin a lovely long day in DL. Just 2 weeks ago was a fabulous day at sea.:worried:

morning all.
all this Vegas talk, that is really not a place I am interested in going. Our friends all love it though. not a place for kids I think.

Angie... tell Dennis to take care of himself!!! Sending
Poor Dennis. He has been ill a while now. I hope he is well soon.

You would think with all the naps he got on the cruise that he would have been able to kick this thing. He was asleep already when I got home last night. He has another early shift today so hopefully he can get in bed early again tonight.

Oh my gosh, thanks for posting those! :cool1: I wasn't able to get good shots of the character dance party, so your pics are great! I see Bethany in some, and the girl Tyler is holding hands with in a couple pics is Charlotte, one of our tablemates. Very cute!

ok, we are going to WDW in Oct and then again for Thanksgiving. John has 4 days off and I want to get away.

OH! Thank you so much for posting those Character Dance Party pics!
There are a couple of great ones of Patrick with Dopey that I will treasure forever!

We had such a hard time getting him to interact with photo's this trip. He wouldn't smile and he just seemed so tired all the time. He wanted to sleep late in the morning, take afternoon naps and then go to bed right after supper ( or even before supper was over! )

We have decided that he should only go on 7 day cruises out of Port Canaveral and NEVER will we have late dining again! He used to be such a party animal!

I like many have said, didn't take enough pics of my Dis friends. A real regret (but also another reason to go again with all of you!) of mine.

But here is one of Michelle in Aruba as she is about to go on the underwater viewing boat to see the German shipwreck that I had just been on.

Hey! That's my MIL & friend (Susan and Dennis) standing behind Michelle. Cool.

I guess if it is tiring for us it is even more so for Patrick. How has he been since you got home?

He's been ok, although he's still on West Coast time! Slept until 10am again today! I am the same I can't get to sleep early and then I slept until 9:30 today!

I've been very tired since I've been home, WHY???? I just got back from a relaxing 3 week vacation? I guess I need a vacation to rest up from my vacation.

I would do the Panama Canal again, but not just to go through it, I would want to stop along the way and tour the area.

I liked the trans Atlantic trip better. But I REALLY want to go to Hawaii, I wonder if Disney will have a trip going there?

I really need to deep clean my house! Dust all over! And the window blinds are filthy, as well as the windows. Chuck power washed the pool deck and I pulled weeds in my garden.

Oh, my butterfly garden is doing wonderful! There are so many fluttering all around! The Gulf Fritilaries are breeding, I have 2 chrysilases that opened up today, and the new butterflies are just drying out their wings, and the Black Swallowtails are starting to lay eggs on the fennel. I need to cut back many of the plants and replace the pentas, they are a few years old.

Also, I came home to fresh ripe grape tomatoes from my one little plant! It went crazy while I was gone!

I could give up going back to Vegas. We didn't really have time to do all the hotels and the shows......had to pick one and we went for the hotels.....swimming and a little gambling.

Barstow was a great place in the middle of nothing.....very strange to us.

For vacation, I would much rather do places in California that we didn't get to rather than spend time and money in Vegas.....I think every meal we ate was $100 or close to it....even the hotel buffet.

Did you go to the Rio for the buffet? It is like $35.00 to $50.00 depending on the day of the week, the time of the day and if you get the seafood or not. Totally worth every penny. That being said, the last three or four times we went to Vegas we spent too much and everything is just way too expensive. The drinks at most of the bars were $11.00 and a lot more if you get table service and most of the clubs only have that. We went three weekends in one year because of birthday parties. We could have booked another cruise with as much as we spent and we don't gamble.

Hello Everybody

The weather is miserable here:mad: still have pile of washings!!

I feel tired this morning and went back to bed and got up now. Must be jetlag!!

I put kids to bed last night at 9 pm, kids got confused *** it was light here at 9 pm!! They got up at 1 o clock in the morning!! I put them back in the bed and explained about different times in USA.

They went to school this morning and I feel no energy now. I wonder just me or same everybody else?

Anyway, we had booked the bummer dates for 2009 but we will forward it to 2010. We booked for 24 Oct 09 for 7 days Disney Cruise.

I am afraid that we cannot make it on Sept 09 as we love to come along but kids cannot get off school. We wait and see what is 2010? Hopeful it is North Europe as Brent spoked us and he is hoping and cannot guarantee so wait and see.

My husband start new job today and his parent came over last night as they missed our kids.

Olivia is going to densist today with Ian's dad to get laser her front chip teeth.

I better move on as I still in my pyjmas

Have not upload my camera yet!! Will do it this week or weekend.

Marilyn

Love the photos of Pink Champagne and I cannot open my password in the dibb:confused3 I send twice emails so hopeful get my new password.

Hello. We are just getting back to normal now. The kids didn't want to wake up in the mornings or go to sleep at night. Brooke was sick the first week so she wanted to sleep all the time and now she has too much sleep and never wants to go to bed. I'm sure things will settle down soon. I'm glad to hear from you.

Great news for Gretchen! Sorry to hear about Vanessa, that's rough. I had a couple of friends in high school that went through the same thing. Hopefully it all works out for her.
