West coast traveller question

DW and I are going in December and we're comparing our flight options. we're looking for other west coast travveller opinions (or others with long flights) on our three options:

a) leave friday night, arrive orlando airport around 8:00am saturday, "check in" (although we probably wouldn't get a room so early in the day) and go to the parks for the duration of the day

b) leave saturday morning, arrive orlando around 8:00pm saturday, arrive check-in and sleep.

now we have 7 days to tour, so my question is whether people generally prefer to take it slow going into their trip, or if you think that touring the day after a red-eye is not such a bad thing. if we're at WDW, I don't think I can convince DW not to tour or to tour in a laid back fasion, even if we're both tired.

Do you have kids going with you?? With kids I wouldn't try touring after a red eye... receipe for melt down!

I have done the red eye and regular travel from the West to East Coast. IMHO, I HATE the red eye and would rather just give up a day to the airline, but other's like it. Can you sleep on the plane? I really am an 8 hour a night type of person so that is a biggie with me.

no kids yet, and if we somehow came up with one before december, we would probably reconsider our current plan. DW and I can both sleep ok on a plane.
