Well, I held 6134 (Cat 7) on the July 2nd sailing, but I think my husband is going to pitch a fit when he hears the price! $5397.00 cruise only for both of us plus my DD (6).

Just as a comparison, I check Royal Caribbean. We could have the Owners Suite on the Vision of the Seas for the same price!

Once you add airfare, transfers, tips, a few nights at Disneyland with passes...We'd be at close to $10,000. I don't think I can justify it.

Is anyone else having sticker shock?

Wow that IS high.
The 14 day isn't much more if any that that. We got that cabin for the West - EAst reposition.

Cheers,
Grumbo

I'm with you. I have a hold on a cat 11 for 7/9 - $4154 for 1 adult, 2 kids (with insurance, no transfers). I love Disney and DCL and I'm willing to pay extra for the Disney experience, but not that much extra. Since getting my quote, I have been comparing to other lines with the same itinerary and they are much, much less.

During the time where we didn't know what the Magic was going to do next year, we started thinking about an Alaskan cruise. May be time to consider it again. Even with airfare, it would be less.

But I don't know if I can let go of the Magic that easily. I don't know if I could stand having it here in CA and not going on it. And the room I have a hold on is the same one we were on last year.

Decisions, decisions.

Suddenly, our reservation for 3 for a 14 day cruise sounds cheap.

Cat 6, $7866 with Air/Transfer/Insurance.

You know it HooKoo......
I thought the repositionings would be much more expensive. They're NOT cheap but for a 14 day holiday, all meals etc its a pretty good deal. Look at an all inclusive in the Caribbean and you'll see.

Cheers,
Grumbo

I agree. The 14 day is much better priced. We have a Cat 4 with air/transfer/insurance for $9207.00 I realize that it is not inexpensive but it is a good deal for the category level with everything included in my opinion.

I'm with you GrumpyMom...

I think they are taking advantage of this rush. I got a quote, no transfers, no insurance for $2785 for an August 7-day, 2 adults.

Contrast that with what we are paying this August, less than $2000 (albeit not much) with transfers, no air. I thought it would be a cost savings to sail out from here, but as it looks, we will pay less to fly to Florida, stay the night before, and have transfers, and still have some left for a couple of spa treatments for GF.

I'm hoping a lot of people are holding, but then again, at that price...

I am very sad..no west coast cruise for us.... But we got a quote for 7/2 $5130, no insurance, air, etc.. cat 10 2 adults 2 kids.. ( although i child is a teen, so i gues we have 3 adults 1 kid..
I can't justify the price ... we will be going on a different cruise or the magic in FL when it returns for a must better price..

We got a cat 11 for 2 adults, 2 children. $4830. It was through our AAA agent and she booked it right away before she transfered our "fake date." She will now transfer our down payment. I hope that doesn't include the 10% discount we received because we booked on board--at least then it would go down to about $4340. Even though we don't have to pay airfare this time, this is going to be more expensive than our 7 day land/sea vacation that we just took. And no Castaway Cay. They better make this an incredible cruise! BTW--we asked for deck 5 and they were already sold out for that deck.

Well, after getting home and discussing this with my DD's, we've decided that we couldn't stand to have the Magic out here and not go on it. So I guess we will be eating macaroni and cheese for the next year to pay for our "Magic"al west coast cruise.

Wow, to end up spending a total of $10,000 for your trip and be in a cat. 7, I would also say no. We paid almost $10,000 for our March 20 (Spring Break for us) cruise and we were in a cat. 3! That figure includes what you included to come up with the $10,000. When ever I tried looking at West Coast cruises the price always have knocked us out no matter which line I price. Our air is higher and the cruise is higher. I can't figure it out since there are fewer ports on the West coast than in the Caribbean. I tell myself someday we will go but I know I won't pay the price difference.

It does sound like the repositioning cruises are priced out to be affordable considering the length of the cruise. Typically repositioning cruises are better priced. I wish we could go on one but it won't happen. The times don't match our schedules. Maybe that is why they have good prices, not as easy to find customers who can go that long at a specific time. All who do go, PLEASE take a lot of pictures and post :D .

all seasons now has the prices posted

and the west coast for 2005 are actually cheaper than the 2004 prices when you compare the actual week to week.

the summer months are expensive to cruise

I really hope DCL is planning on whether to put a ship west by this...b/c it looks like they have put the price ranges out of everyones reach
