West Coast Cruise Shore Excursions!!!!

We're going horseback riding in Mazatlan and are probably going to do the Canopy Tour in Puerto Vallarta. None of the Cabo excursions really appeal to us so we don't have anything planned for that day.

Here's what we are doing:

Puerto Vallarta- Pirate ship snorkel and sail
Mazatlan- Beach Escape at the Los Sabalos Resort
Cabo- Harbor Cruise and Land excursion

Can't wait to go!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Paradise Beach Adventure, Puerto Vallarta
Mazatlan Beach Escape, Mazatlan
Cabo Resort Pool Getaway, Cabo San Lucas

I plan on my family doing one of the above. May possibly stay on the boat in Puerto Vallarta due to travel times to most of the shore excursions. These are all pretty pricy. The Cabo one for the four of us will cost $186. The Mazatlan one is the same price and the Puerto Vallarta one is $136. It's a lot of money to sit by a pool, which I can do on the ship without paying extra.

We are doing the tours with city sightseeing in the mornings and in the afternoons found resorts at all cities that we can use their beach and pool for free! (maybe have to purchase a drink or two!)

ppiglet...
how did you find resorts in these ports that you can go swim at? Did you find ones close to port? TIA

I've been reading lots of threads on the cruise critic board and some of the threads here by Matz. Frank. In Puerta Vallarta the Krystal Resort Hotel is close to the port and they are recommended by quite a few people. In Cabo you can take a water taxi from the port to Medano beach(suppose to be about $2 per person) which has the Melia hotel and Hacienda hotel. Matzatlan Hotels are probably the farthest from port and we will take a taxi (appx $10 one way) to the golden zone area and go to the El cid resort.

We're doing:

PV - Pirate Sail and Snorkel
Maz - either Randi's Happy Horses or a beach activity of some kind
Cabo - hanging out on the ship as none of the excursions really interested us.

I have no idea! Can't pin the family down long enough to decide!

jlima, looks like you might be sailing with us. Are you on the June 25th sailing? This will be our first trip on DCL, though we have cruised before and are AP holders at DL. We are all looking forward to this trip, even 16yo DD!

We're planning on the following for now:

Puerto Vallarta: Dolphin Swim (DD8, DH) and Dolphin Encounter for kids (DS4)
Mazatlan: Randi's Happy Horses
Cabo: to Medano Beach on own, parasailing, wave runners, snorkel at Lover's Beach (take water taxi)

got2gp - yes, we are on the June 25 sailing. this will be our 2nd Disney Magic cruise. We have been DL AP holders since 89.

Puerta Vallerta - Las Caletas
Matazalan - Randi's Happy Horses
Cabo - Medano Beach

till other DISers take the excursions and read their experiences.
This board is amazing and I always trust DISers' advice, so we have
no plans until we read trip reports. As anxious as I am for our
cruise (July 30), I'm just as anxious for other DISers' trips.

PV - Morning Dolphin Discovery and afternoon Canopy Adventure. (Whew - I really hope this works out. I'm not worried about exhaustion, just timing.)
Mazatlan - nothing planned yet...might get a day room at the Hotel Playa Resort and explort the Golden Zone on foot
Cabo - Chileno Bay Snorkeling

Kelley

PV - Canopy Adventure
Maz - Randi's Happy Horses (this is a not Disney excursion)
Cabo - Kayaking

PV - Pirate Sail and Snorkel
Mazatlan - haven't decided yet, but may just walk and explore on our own
Cabo - same as Mazatlan

it's interesting to see what others will be doing...

as for us...not really decided yet, but am leaning towards...

paradise beach resort @ pv
randi's happy horses...maybe

and that's about it. we still have 2 months or so before we really need to pick something...or nothing.

has anyone done horseback riding with young ones? we have DS3 & DS6...still debating that one. :flower:

Our boys will be 3 and 7 when we sail so I've been debating the very same thing. I'm not worried about the 7yo but I am with the 3 year old. Be curious to hear what other's have to say....

LiserAnn...just sent you a reply to your pm

anyways, if someone has done this, please let me know! and i am curious to see what others have to say also! :flower:

We've booked with Randi and our kids are 7 and 4. I've e-mailed Randi extensively about this and she's assured me that my 4YO will be well watched over by one of her assistants. He'll have his own horse and will be led by them, he won't have any control over the horse. I've also read where Randi will allow a small child to ride with a parent so you don't have to worry about the 3YO.
