werewolf or vamp, no rule against both!

Werewolf all the way!!!!

Just a hint this thread will probably just turn into a thread where twilight-haters complain about twilight which is unfortunate :(

She never specified it was Twilight related :p

She just got mad when I suggest Lupin.

He's a werewolf, so I was answering the question. Similarly I could have responded Sanguini, but I figure that would be too obscure. (He's a vampire)

i don't think any harry potter references are obscure. :confused3

Eh Sanguini is a little more obscure, he's only mentioned for like... 2 pages in Half Blood Prince, not an important character at all (but all the teen witches are flirting with him :p)

But something like Lupin isn't... true.

i just have a hard time considering anything in one of the biggest selling series of all time obscure. lol.

count von krolock, yeah, thats obscure.

Hah, well... it depends if we're talking in general or in Twilight. If in Twilight... I'd have to do a long bit of explaining on my stance on the series. Lol.

But in general, vampires. Werewolves have their strong suits but I guess it's just that I've read more good books that center around vampires.

Besides Twilight. There are some good ones out there.

Definition of a saga: a narrative telling the adventures of a hero or a family.
any narrative or legend of heroic exploits.
Also called saga novel. a form of the novel in which the members or generations of a family or social group are chronicled in a long and leisurely narrative.

a medieval Icelandic or Norse prose narrative of achievements and events in the history of a personage, family, etc.

So HP is also a saga. And so is pretty much every story ever written.

Lol, I now remember that Twilight is commonly references as a saga. Not by its readers, but by... IDK, the publishers. Lol.

The thing about Twilight is that I was obsessed with it for a long time, but then the movie came out and everyone jumped on that bandwagon. The bandwagon was too crowded with giggly 12-year-olds, so I jumped off, but I can't shake the emotional attachment associated with reading the Twilight Saga like 5/6 times, depending upon which book we're talking about.

under that definition a short story would be considered a saga. which just isn't correct. :confused3 saga implies a massive length. and technically, "saga" can only be used for reference to the stories from, or stories resembling the 11th/12th century icelandic storytelling, OR a massive story.

Yup, I added the other definitions to my post...

that was just the first one I found.

i feel like HP could be considered a saga, the story itself spans over what....more than 100 years including flashbacks/forwards, and it has seven volumes, of close to 500 pages each.

twilight is a saga in the loosest connotation, since its a rather short story.

Just for clarification: are we saying that Twilight is or is not a saga? Wait nevermind. Lol.
ETA: oh, yeah that makes a great deal of sense.

Because I'd just consider it a series. It's referenced as a saga, but I doubt Stephenie knows the correct usage of saga/series/potato/potahto.

Well.. the actually story for Twilight is short, but if you wanted to argue the Cullens' histories and the length of the books...

I just don't like that all the commercials emphasize the word Saga as it seems so... off, to me.

a "series" simply means a sequential group of individual books. a saga is a massive story. a saga could be one book or one hundred books.

or chagrin :p

^LOL.
Well, I think that's just the publishers trying to make it sound more legitimate. I actually went to one of Stephenie Meyer's book signings a long time ago (don't judge me) and I think she referenced it as a series... Yes she definitely did. So she may be at fault for the bad writing, but she's not at fault for its advertisement as a saga.
