I want to know were to register at for wedding gifts

I was thinking

walmart

Target

and amazon.com

just wondering if those are good paces bad places or indifferent

Have you considered Bed, Bath and Beyond? I love it when the couple I am buying for is registered there because they always have those 20% off coupons so I can get them more! :)

But if your Target, Walmart, and Amazon are the only 3 you can consider, I think it really depends on your guests.

1) Amazon.com--Unless they are a member or Amazon prime, they may need to pay shipping charges. Also, a lot of people like to be able to go to the store to see the actual product in person before buying it.

2) Some people, especially older people, are very uncomforable buying things online.

3) Will it be easy enough to return any possible duplicates/unwanted items to Amazon? I would think it would be easier to return them to a local Walmart or Target...

I think I'd stick with Target and Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I didn't know you could register at Walmart.

no not the case at a I can add bed bath and beyond to my list those were just the first 3 that came to mind I am trying at a verity of places so everyone can have there pick at were to shop

Target & Bed, Bath & Beyond are where most people around here register.

I wouldn't do too many places. And make sure to have different items from each place. That way stuff will show as purchased & you won't get duplicates because people bought the same thing from different stores.

I don't know about Amazon. . but I think Target would be good. . lots of variety. I do think you should pick at least one good department store. . .whichever is in your area. . .when I got married it was Macy's. . but Penny's would be nice. My niece registered with Hershberger's(?) or something like that. We don't have it here, but it seemed comparable to Macy's. Bed Bath and Beyond I also think would be good. Don't forget about places like Sears or Home Depot. . .sometimes it's nice to get that drill or something along those lines that you will need someday.

Also. .. it's "where". . . "were" is like. . . we were just at Sears. I only say because I know you "were" asking for help with your schoolwork and writing. :goodvibes

I was thinking Dillards for my department store because I know getting my grandma to shop at target is like pulling teeth and she does not have access to the internet

We reistered at Target, Macy's and BB&B.

I want to preface this by saying Target is my favorite store. I'm in there like twice a week, and I am very pro-Target in all other scenarios. However, their registry rules totally suck. They make returns super complicated, you can only return x amount per drivers license, they don't do cash back, their inventory changes so quickly that if you register for something, two months later it could be totally discontinued, clearancing, hard to find, etc. I did not have a positive experience here.

On the other hand, Bed, Bath and Beyond was amazing. They did cash returns, no questions asked, no receipt necessary if it was on your registry. They have someone help you through the store if you want, unlike Target which is basically like "ok here's the gun, go ahead." I would advise anyone to register here.

Everyone I know that has registered at Target has had problems. Things getting discontinued, random items appearing on their registry, major problems with returns etc etc

I would second or third bed bath and beyond. They were amazing with out registry.

Well since Dillards is your local department store I would say there and also Bed, Bath and Beyond. Crate and Barrel is very popular here but maybe they don't have a store near you. I would not register at Target or Walmart.

See, that is exactly why I said that. My mom is the same way!

Well, since people here said Target is difficult with their registry, I would pick Dillards, BB&B and maybe one other store. . .even Home Depot. Good luck!

ETA- one more thing. . .pick items that you need and want in all different price ranges. Even if it's a few $5 spatulas and a whisk. .. somebody can pick several of them. Or if you pick an expensive item people can chip in on it. Also you can pick lots of $25-$75 items. What I hate is when you go to somebody's registry and it's nothing but $200 items. :(

My fiance and I are only registered at Bed Bath and Beyond...we don't really need much, and they have the really nice Pure Beech jersey knit sheets that we like.

We really want Home Depot gift cards...

I love Target but they have such a turnover of employees and I'm not sure I would trust them to keep a wedding registry tidy/accurate. Maybe consider Kohls.

We did Target & Think Geek

We got everything off Think Geek (our friends know us so well... :lmao: ) and almost everything off Target. Just be careful. We had a friend who bought us a set of pots and pans and got the order confirmed and all and it never shipped and then he kept getting emails telling him it was backordered (which we said was fine) and the emails would ask him to confirm or cancel and he could not find the button to confirm. Anywhere. He actually called another friend over to make sure he wasn't crazy.

So he'd just ignore it. :lmao:

He finally just canceled it and gave us cash a month and a half after the wedding.

Chiming in: as a shopper, I like BB&B, and I've always heard good things about their registry services.

I think 3 places sounds about right: I'd say someplace like BB&B (wide range of items/prices, lots of locations), one "nice" traditional department store like Dillards/Macys, and maybe a third choice based on your wish list/guest list (Amazon if you know you have a lot of guests who like shopping online, Home Depot if you're wanting tools, lawn stuff, etc., or whatever).

Agree with the earlier poster who said be sure you have plenty of items in a wide range of prices.

When my daughters got married they registered at Target. Nice store, but, a lot of people found it hard to find the items they registered for.

I think Bed, Bath and Beyond is great also. They not only have the 20% off coupons, but, the coupons never expire. You have to go to the store but I ordered my kitchen aid mixer for $240 (regularly $300) through their gift registry and they shipped it to my house for free.

Amazon is great for out of town guests and they usually offer free shipping.

We were registered at Bed, Bath and Beyond, Pottery Barn and Macy's. I loved the fact that after the wedding, we could purchase things that haven't been bought off the list at a discount! :thumbsup2 Luckily, I mostly got everything at my shower but it was still nice to finish up the list and not spend a ton of money.
