In answer to your question, far too long!! We have to drive from our home in Hay River to Edmonton, Alberta (11-12 hours). Then, we fly from Edmonton to Toronto (4 hour flight), then Toronto to Orlando (1.5 hours). We overnight in Edmonton, then fly out the next day. That's the only way you can do it basically unless you want to fly at midnight from Edmonton to Toronto (no thanks!).

I grew up in Toronto and life was a little easier then. It sure makes you a little 'hardier' living up here. I 've been up North (the True North!) for 22 years now. These trips keep us sane!!

I can only imagine. Have a great trip. Enjoy the sunshine.

So that makes me wonder. If you don't mind me asking, how many hours of sunshine do you get in the Northwest Territories in early November? How about late December? Sorry to turn this into a geography lesson but we might as well learn something about our neighbors to the north while we talk Disney.

That is a great question.....you obviously have a good sense of the world to know that we are "daylight-challenged" up here. In November, the sun rises about 9am and sets about 6pm. The real 'doozies' come in late December-early January when the sun rises about 10am and sets around 2pm. We have had snow for the last two weeks (always by Halloween) and we will have a winter wonderland until the end of April. Just about seven months!!

And people wonder why we own at DVC????????? (actually nobody up here does...they are just envious!!)

I was a teacher for quite a few years. I can't tell you how many times we discussed why the northern latitudes get less sunlight at this time of year. I just wish I could have had someone like you who lives it every day, communicate with my classes.

You do know your facts!! Yes, the loooong summer days are what keeps us going (read:sane)!!

In the summertime around solstice(June21st, longest day of the year) we have 24 hours of sunlight. It is very hard to get used to sleeping at night when it looks like it's 9am and it really is 3am.

May and June are terrific here. We cram so much into a day because we can, even tee off at midnight if we wish. We actually have a world-renowned golf tournament up here every here
called the Midnight Sun tournament & it attracts golfers from as far away as Australia & England!!
