I can't believe I'm attempting this trip, but the plan is to go West and make a loop back home. We'll be gone for 24 days if it all works out.

It's been about 7 years; since, we went to Disneyland. I'm looking forward to the World of Color show there. We'll have three days at the parks.

We'll be seeing friends and family along the way. We're making a lot of stops along the way for sightseeing. We are averaging only 6 hours of driving a day; so, I think it may work out for us.

We will see the Grand Canyon and Mt. Rushmore, too. My mom has glaucoma and macular degeneration, now; so, I want her to see these two sights before it's too late. Her Alzheimer's is getting worse and her mobility is digressing; so, this is the time for my last stand for a Grand vacation and I'm going to try.

We're taking our dog, too. I've made all our reservations for resorts, already. We leave on Monday.

Love you all and I'm so excited, right now. Unfortunately, this means no Disney World this year. We can't afford both trips. I'm afraid of the gas prices going West, too.

Happy Easter to all!

Bete- I hope you have the vacation you've been dreaming of. I know how disappointing it was for you to have to cancel last year. Your plans sound great, especially sightseeing along the way. I hope your Mom really enjoys seeing the Grand Canyon and Mt. Rushmore and enjoys her days at Disney. Are you using the Disney kennel? I've seen it and it's very nice, but I'm not sure if they board overnight. I was very impressed with the cleanliness and with the CM's who work in that area if you do plan to utilize it for your doggie traveller.

I was at DL last year and the weather was so much nicer than it was here in Florida. I hope the same is true for your trip also!

The nice thing about this trip is there's no hassles with cancelling (in time) if I need to do it. When you book packages and all monies are paid up front and you're in the deadline zone for no refunds is when it stings. I was lucky and I had Disney trip insurance on the last situation, but it was an ordeal to do all the paper work required for it.

I think my expectations are realistic here and I won't be dissappointed if we miss a few sights here and there if everyone is tired and so forth. I'm doing what I call overnight bags; so, we don't have to lug in too much luggage at each stop.

Love the love for your mom. :-) I thought it was so sweet I had to post.

Often, Arco is cheaper in Orange County than other stations. Wish I could tell you specifically about Anaheim, but I never fill up there, even though I go to DL too much.

It's beautiful here right now. 70s and gorgeous sunny. Drive safe!

I think your expectations have always been realistic and I know how much you want to make at least one more lasting memory with your Mom. The trip is as much about that as what you actually get to see and do. So happy that your plans can be changed without penalty if you need to also- that takes away a lot of stress!
