We're not on the plane yet..our July WL family trip report-NEW Day 8-8/7

I am really enjoying your trip report especially with pictures...your girls are just adorable.

How great the grandparents were able to come...hope your mom is doing well.

Loving your T.R. so far! I've been looking in the pics to see if I'm in the background of any! We were there the same time!

Day 8: MK Tony’s and Wishes Cont…

Ok where were we, ahh yes….yawn…we wake up from our naps. Oh no it looks like it is going to rain!!!:sad2:

We get ready to go back to the MK, we all have been waiting to wear our matching shirts, and it’s the “scheduled time to wear them, yes a little silly but its Disney after all. Even Grammie and Papa have on their shirts. We picked them up before we left for Disney at the Disney store when they were $4.99 each, you really can’t beat that price!!!

We pack the rain poncho’s that I bought at Walmart and Target for this trip, we haven’t used them all trip, boy have we’ve been lucky!!!!

Grammie and Papa meet us in our room, and they say that the boats won’t run if it is raining so we should take the bus. Now I know this is NOT true, but rather than argue with my mom we’ll take the bus back to the MK.

It is not raining yet, but it looks pretty threatening. Its nice that the WL bus stop and walkway is covered so you don’t have to stand in the rain, if there is any while you are waiting for the bus.

So we get on the bus, Papa drives the chair, Grammie comes with us, and we take our seats on the bus, now it starts to POUR!!! :umbrella: Papa got a little wet, good thing we were already on the bus!!! I start to take out the ponchos and put them on Cassie and Daphnie, and myself. This poor lady who was sitting across from me, looks at her kids and tells them, don’t worry we’ll wait it out, b/c she didn’t have ponchos. :confused3

The bus pulls up to the MK and we get out and wait like everyone else under the cover to see if the rain is going to let up just a bit.

Here are the girls waiting at the MK bus stop:

Rain

Grammy and Papa get out their rain ponchos, and inform me that they have the cheap dollar store ones. Now, in FL rain this heavy, believe me you don’t want those thin dollar ponchos, a garbage bag would be thicker than those. (But I smartly keep my mouth shut this time). So we wait a while and it doesn’t seem to be letting up, no end in sight.

Our dinner reservation is getting close so we decide to meet up under the train tracks where you get the stroller and when you 1st walk in. As I am trying to explain to my mom where this is, she is getting annoyed, which I don’t get, I mean come on mom how many times have you been to Disney World, you live in FL??? :headache: Ok, so I guess all of us are a little edgy toward the end of our vacation on our last night when it is RAINING out…

The kids, Scott and I book it to the entrance and whatever part is not covered by our ponchos is soaked. We go and get the stroller and do not see Grammy or Papa, so I call them. There are 2 sides to this underpass place, I said to meet on the right side, but apparently that didn’t happen, so we go over to them on the left side. Now my mom says in her very annoyed voice “Where is Tony’s?” “On the map mom”, no I didn’t say that, I’m not a teenager anymore, I am sure I will get mine in spades when my little angels become teens themselves, but anyway back to the TR) Mind you I have never been to Tony’s either and I don’t know where it is but I looked on the map and figure it out. So I try to explain where it is and Scott is half listening too. :rolleyes1

So the adventure continues, Scott takes the double stroller and he’s off to Tony’s (or so I thought) I am after him and Grammy and Papa are following me. Scott runs past Tony’s and into the hat shop with the stroller  ….what?????????.......here I am standing in the middle of the street pointing Tony’s out to my mom and Irwin (mind you there is a monsoon rain coming down). I book it over to the hat shop, thinking maybe scott took the kids in their to get some Mickey Ears?? When I get there he is not there, so I go in the connecting candy shop and look for him I think I see a blurry image of a man at top speed pushing the stroller out of the candy shop and to the shop next door…”great just great”:headache: I think..…but when I turn around I see that my mom and Irwin have followed me into the crowded shops (made even more crowded on this July night because of the rain) and they are NOT happy. …What just happened to my perfect last evening at Disney world in the Magic Kingdom????? So they ask me where is Tony’s???? Ok so I point to Tony’s (again) tell them to meet me there, b/c I have to go get Scott and the kids who from the looks of things are racing off to see if Tony’s is somewhere in Tommorrowland!!! They go off in a huff. I call Scott but he is not answering his phone, oh so frustrating. So I decide to wait outside of the candy shop, under the cover. I call him again, this time he picks up, I snap at him, I don’t remember what I said, but he made me apologize to him again, ah this night is so not going as planned!!!

We finally get to Tony’s but they don’t let you bring the rented stroller inside only the non rentals are allowed inside. So I ask where to park this stroller and the CM points to a place below that is in the rain!!! I say, “In the RAINNNN??” Yes I am a bit short now too. I say “Can I park it up here not in the Rain?” He shrugs and walks off, so I park it not in the rain.

We go inside, I check in, we find Grammy and papa, and the kids sit in front of the TV and watch, what else but Lady and the Tramp!!! (Great movie)
Here’s a picture of the kids watching the movie:

We are called and seated quickly in booth toward the back of the restaurant. The inside of the restaurant is nice and I love the water fountain inside.

For dinner I got the steak, (yes again), and Scott got the salmon, no bacon (yes again). My mom chose the salmon, no bacon while Papa went with the Eggplant Rotini. The kids were a bit restless so I took out their little dolls and they played with them at the table. Our meals took a long time to come, but when they did they were delicious! Tony’s was actually the best steak I had all week! It was yummie!

Unfortunately, they put bacon on Scott’s salmon, Scott doesn’t eat bacon for religious reasons, so he was a bit upset when he tasted the bacon. Our waitress finally came back over and Scott had to send the salmon back. The problem is that while he appreciated the fact that they cleared the whole plate it took FOREVER for his new dinner to come. Meanwhile the kids are getting more antsy and everyone else finished their dinner and Scott still hasn’t gotten his. Scott gets a little annoyed because if this happened normally and you waited this long for your food to come back, he would have just told them to forget it and take it off the check, but since you are on the dinning plan, and it is our last sit down meal here before we leave tomorrow, you are stuck at their mercy. We order our desserts and Scott’s meal has still not arrived. Finally Scott’s meal comes and so do our desserts. Luckily for Scott he is famished and a quick eater, so he scarfs it down. He said it was very tasty. As we are eating our desserts, the manger comes over to us and says that he heard the chef made a mistake… yadda yadda… anyway he ends up giving us 2 sets of FP’s, Ok I admit that makes me feel better. (later on I see him handing them out to people waiting by the podium b/c the wait was VERY long and some people are pretty upset). After the kids finish with their desserts they have “had it” I volunteer to leave with them, let them watch TV up front or just walk around with them.

We end up finding a wonderful place if you walk back through the gift shop at Tony’s and then take a right. It is a Kodak picture exhibit, where you can take neat shots and the kids loved it, here are some pics of them below:

It was still raining when Grammy & Papa finished dinner and paid their check. They were both still very wet, cold and tired, so they decided to go back to the hotel and we said we would meet for one last meal for breakfast tomorrow morning before we left at WCC.

So after Grammy & Papa left, we ventured out into the rain again, but it was just a light rain now. We went to Buzz and rode that with our FP from earlier. The manger of Tony’s told us that the rides would be very busy tonight b/c of the rain, I thought they weren’t supposed to be as busy, but he was right. TTA had a line, this never has a line, I was shocked!!

So we decided to go back to Pooh and ride that with our FP, and it was fun. We rode Peter Pan with the FP. On Peter Pan Daphnie kept saying “hi” in her soft little voice to Peter Pan at the end of the ride when he is flying the pirate ship, and then she says to me, “Mommy that’s not the real Peter Pan, I want to talk to the REAL Peter Pan again. When can I talk to him again?”

After that we went on Small World. On the boat ride Scott told me he was talking to my mom when we left the table and she said that it made her feel good that I am bringing the kids to Disney World and passing on the memories to them, she said it made her feel like at least she did something right in my childhood. :) Its funny, my mom doesn’t communicate that way with me, but something about Scott is that he can talk to anyone.

Spectro was canceled that night because of the rain, so we rode Pooh (no line) and Peter Pan (line) one last time.

After we said good bye to “not the real” peter pan, we went to get a space for Wishes where TGM said is a good place to watch it and then when its over, “get out of dodge”. So we go to our spot, and it was still lightly raining but it was such a great show!!! The girls loved it. It was a wonderful end to our night and our vacation.

When it was over, we literally ran back to the boat dock. We caught the 1st boat which was crowded but luckily we got a seat, and both Daphnie and Cassie fell asleep on the boat. Scott carried both the girls off the boat and we walked back to our hotel room.

It sad now, because our Disney vacation is just about over, yes we are not on the plane yet, but our bags are all packed and being picked up in the morning. We’ll go to sleep now, have breakfast in the morning & say our goodbyes.:sad1:

We had the most wonderful magical vacation and I couldn’t have imagined a better one if I tried.:goodvibes We will have memories and stories about our vacation for a long time, and I thank all of you who read this report for helping me re-live this magical family vacation.

Bad weather can really make people snap at each other. I would have been really irritated with my family as well with the whole "Where is Tony's thing"

That was nice that the restaurant gave you FP's after messing up on DH's dinner.

The girls sure do look like they are having fun in those photos!

Daphnie is too cute with her love of Peter Pan!

I am happy for you that it stopped raining and that you were able to see Wishes on your last night.

it seems like a nice ending after all the confusion with trying to get to Tony's. I hate the rain. it was a fantastic report and thank you for sharing it.

Thanks for the great trip report! My dd will be almost 4 when we go in Nov. We are staying at WL also.

I really want one of those chocolate chip ice cream desserts you mentioned!!

Lifelong_Dreamer, thank you...Daphnie is still into Peter Pan, she wants to be him for Halloween, so on Saturday I went to Target & bought a plain green T shirt -large (boys size) so it looks like a dress on her, anyway a few cuts here, and sew in a collar on from the pieces I cut out and ...its peter pan.!!! I even went to AC Moore and made her a fabric hat with a red feather in it, she wouldn't take off that custume all weekend, it was very cute..she ran around the house saying, "where's my friend Wendy???" (she wanted Cassie to dress as Wendy)..Cassie might be Wendy for Halloween and Scott is going to be Captain Hook, so we got it all covered. pirate:

Just found your report today & have really enjoyed it! We're staying at the WL in just 18 days, so it's great to hear all about it. Your girls are SO cute - love the one of Daphne & Peter - she just looks thrilled!

arizonacolbys: Have a great time the lodge is magical!!!!:goodvibes

anne60 Is there anything more depressing than the last day when you wake up to your bill hanging on the door????? I did not realize that ME left you something as well!!
You should frame the picture of Daphne and Peter Pan - it's a classic!!!

anne60: Yes VERY Depressing!!! I guess the only thing more depressing is either being home from Disney or getting on that plane!!!!!:rotfl:

momof2boyz12
Great trip report. I have been trying to catch up. We arrived at WDW on July 20, and wow was it hot! I think you already said that, but I just wanted to put my two cents in!

momof2boys12, yes VERY HOT, but it made that great dessert from Sleepy Hallow taste all the better!!!;)

We ate at Hollywood & Vine one evening, and we were not impressed with the food either. Unfortunately, we weren't there for the characters, so all in all it was an expensive bad meal. IMO.

I love the title of this report. I will remember that line for our next trip as my boys kept asking me "how many more days until we go home, mom?". I wouldn't answer them because I just did not want to even think about i

Great pictures. I look forward to hearing about the last day!

momof2boys12,: Glad to hear someone else was disapointed with H&V i was begining to think we were the only ones....I hate when they ask how many more days to go too...my husband came up with that phrase so i can't take credit for it...;)
