As some of you know, DH has been interviewing for a job in SE Florida. Well, our family just got back today. We decided to bow down and say "Thanks, but no thanks".
The job would require more travel than originally thought (2 weeks each month). There were a couple of smaller job negatives also. But I think if I had said that I loved it there and wanted to move, DH could have easily overlooked the negatives.
Although it's beautiful Florida (sunny and warm), and the mouse house is only a two hour drive, I discovered I'm still a northern girl at heart. I had a really hard time with Christmas music playing on the radio while we drove with the top down on the convertible we rented.
And I think if we were camping a dozen times a year at Disney, I'd start getting a bit cynical about paying $2.50 for a bottle of water.
But really, the area we looked at seems to be growing very fast. To buy a house with about the same sq. footage that we have now, and in a neighborhood similar to our's, would be quite a lot more money. The lower taxes would NOT make up the difference! LOL.
But the biggest reason? I have my family and friends here whom I love dearly. I think I'd be lost down there with DH gone two weeks a month.
Okay, enough of this. I'm going to start a new thread about who I ran into at the HM!!!
PS: I'm also scared of I95!!
