We're moving to Orlando!

Anyone have an idea where in the Orlando area we should move to. It's just me and my hubby and we are looking for a 2 to 3 bedroom apartment. Ideally we would like to live in walking distance to restaraunts and shops, like the developments we ahve here in Atlanta, but anywhee safe is good. Any ideas?

Orlando is a big area, where are you going to work?

Just like Atlanta, you wouldn't suggest moving to Marietta if they're going to work on the other side of the city.

Congratulations, I'm jealous, want to move their one day too. Sorry have no clue on which area would be the best, I personally would live on the Cocoa Beach side, that way it would just be a quick 30 minute trip to the beach whenn we wanted to go.

Knowing where you plan to work would help in a recommendation. Don't count on I-4 for your daily commute.

I am about an hour and 15 mins from both coasts here and I love it. We live southwest of Orlando and about 12 miles from the parks.

Do you already have jobs lined up? That would be the first thought--living near your employer. Commuting around here has gotten ridiculous. The roads were built to handle about half of the daily capacity they are handling presently.

Like others said, Orlando is a big place and you want to live where you don't need to use I-4 to get to work. WDW is now pretty accessible from both north and south without going on I-4 (429 & 417).

Baldwin Park, Mount Dora, parts of Metro-West, Celebration, or even downtown around Lake Eola would probably all fit the bill for you. It depends on how much you are loking to spend.
