were is the original Transit Authority

I think mesaBoy2 is on the right track, I think it's if you had wings or dreamflight.

I just pulled up a youtube video of if you had wings and at the 3:50 mark there is video of space mountain cars going by and the riders are screaming.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Vmfc8aVW-U

In this video it shows both rides and both look similar to what you are describing.

I want to agree (;)), but the OP is saying now this was specifically 2006. IYHW was long gone by then.

I continue to be curious.

But the Transit Authority has always been the same ride and it isn't what you are describing.

If that is so then why was it called WED people mover before where you can sit forward or backward on a ride that goes over tomorrowland...I've been on that where you take a moving ramp going upwards...then they changed the name to Transit Authority which was the name of the other ride no one can recognize by my description. The room you entered was dark and things on the walls in the que (SP) area would be in neon and show up with a blacklight. I think they were like hazard signs. You'd have to weave back and forth through the railings to get up to the ride when it was busy with lots of riders. You walked into this building(no ramp).

Not Test Track at Epcot? (The queue wasn't like this, but the ride once was.)

They have made several name changes for the PeopleMover over the years.

"Transit Authority" is (for all intents and purposes) the current name.
There was no former ("other") ride with that name at WDW.

Because they changed the name. In 2006 it was called the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. Now it is called Wedway. The attraction you describe sounds like Buzz Liteyear. *edit-it is called Peoplemover, used to be Wedway Peoplemover.

2009 trip in October..talked to the person I traveled with and they remembered it too. We went into a building not up the ramp that is called the Transit Authority now.. that use to be called the WED people mover.
It does a little drop but goes pretty fast and you can hear people in SM screaming at one point.
opps got that backwards Transit Authority
The only ride near space mountain at all, let alone one that goes into the building so you can hear the riders, is the TTA. The Tomorrowland Transit Authority (so the name does match your memory) and the hearing the screams matches as well. I suspect you just forgot the outside portion, but as mesa boy said

I'm enjoying the puzzle. If you think of other things about it please share.

Was it an omnimover? Or a boat maybe? Pirates has drops in the dark. What was the theming in the queue? Every ride has specific things in the line. If you can recall something like that, it would help us pinpoint your ride. Its been a long time since you have been, maybe you are even thinking of some other park.

Is it the rollercoaster inside the Epcot ball? I haven't done that in forever but I know it's inside. You can hear screams but not from folks on space. =)

No screams. That sucker moves the speed of molasses.

These are the attractions in Tomorrowland currently and the other ones that used to be there.

What were the ride cars like? How many did they seat and in what arrangement?

I'm starting to think that you are remembering Buzz Light year - that's the main one with Neon that would have gone thru a "fast" tunnel. You walk in, snake thru the maze to get on and then could run around and walk back thru the room with the neon to get on. There aren't screams from SM on Buzz - as people have said only the People Mover aka Tomorrowland Transit Authority has that.

I love a good mystery plus it's a good reason to dig around yesterland, walt dated world, and youtube for old attactions.

PS... I'll never complain about the music in IASW again after hearing the if you had wings song, wow that was a bad repetitive song!

I googled a map of MK Tomorrowland from 2006. There is an attraction called The Timekeeper. It was a Circlevision movie but it appears to be a 'train ride'.

Thanks, I googled 2009 and Transit Authority still looks the same as the 2006 map. I have no idea what the ride I'm looking for is? I appreciate everyones help. I looked at youtube videos a few weeks ago and only found the people mover with the ramp and that's not the ride. Maybe I'm confusing this with another park. I was sure it was Disney. Thanks everyone. I'll be in Epcot on 3/24 and MK on 3/26. No week long trip in the world for me as I'm staying with a friend who only wants to go to WDW on only 2 days.

There's a ride I have been wondering about for years. I don't remember much about it except there was some sort of boat involved and it was kind of dark and I was disappointed that the boat brought us to a little house area and then the tour/ride/attraction continued. It involved walking a bit. It was a long time ago. I wondered if it was at Universal. One of the posters on DisBoards has a pic in his/her signature that reminds me of it. Some blue glow stuff.

I always wish I could figure out what that ride was.

That would be Maelstrom in Norway at Epcot.

perhaps you are mixing in some of the peoplemover at disneyland with the Wal t Disney World version? It's been many years but i think that one had a dip(s) in the track. I can't remember the queue at all for that- sorry. And apparently at one point it has a "superspeed tunnel" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PeopleMover

I looked at Cedar Points map in Ohio and they have a Disaster Transit ride. Maybe it was there:blush:

It did have a blacklight waiting room. However, it was a coaster, just indoors similar to space mtn. It also usually had a line so I am not sure if you could get on and off that one like you said you had!
