We did it! We put in everything today... minimum $500 deposit, etc. Waiting on the contracts to sign and return... at which point a more in-depth credit determination will be made. Right NOW, we're being told that 10% should be fine but it may be higher because of our credit history. Basically it comes down to this:
If it is determined that we need to put down the 10% or 30% of the total due... we will do so. It may be tough to swing the 30% option, but... our credit history has put us in that situation. Providing everything I was told is true (which I have no reason to believe otherwise as our guide has been AWESOME)... we're in. In the end, it makes our monthly payments less anyway.
If, by chance, they require us to put down more than that... we will back out and wait another year or two to raise our credit some more. But, we were told they don't think that'll happen, so...
Tenatively anyway... we are now the proud owners of 160 annual points at AKV!
We started with the minimum figuring on 1 trip every other year, give or take... and if we need to add more at a later time, we will.
With that in mind... we have booked our first stay for February 26th through March 5th in a 1BR Savanna View in Kidani. It is tenative, as well... because we need to make sure the financing is going to go though as the 10% or 30% options... but we're excited!
We'll find out within the next 10 days or so... and then I can cancel our reservation at CBR for the same time frame and apply our deposit on that towards our DVC downpayment.
It's been a long few months trying to convince my wife... but she's just as excited as I am and now we can't WAIT to get ourselves fully into this and begin preparing our future vacations!
