On my iPad, excuse typos and shortness...

We arrived yesterday. Flight was about an hour late leaving Sydney. Sat upstairs in economy on the A380. Which was really good :-)

Checked into Loews in Hollywood. Area is a lot more dodgy than 3 years ago when we were last in LA. We want to the wax museum. Hotel was nice enough.

We picked up the hire car this morning and drove to our house in the Hills. Really nice. Did some regular shopping at Glendale. It's a bit like a Westfield. Maybe a bit smaller than Parramatta. Target was 3 stories.

Went to Wholefoods to get some food, ice cream, etc. the house has laundry detergent and other basics so we don't need to worry about them.

And finally we are really relaxed.

Which seats were you sitting in on the A380?

Trying to decide if i'll pay for seat selection or not (we're flying cattle class of course)
MOOOOO :rotfl:

Looking forward to the updates. Thanks for sharing your experience with the Loews hotel. Where is the house you're staying at?

Another quick update, yay!!!! I'll do a proper TR when I get home and back to reality.

Upperdeck 32A, B & D. There is no C. How we got it.... paid for regular seats. Then at T-80 the full seat map is released, ie, you can get the economy seat they normally block. Right at that time you should be able to get something really good, either right at the front of downstairs, or upstairs somewhere. Then from about T-24 start looking constantly for better again. We were upstairs, then we got the bulkhead 32 at about 3AM on departure day when I couldn't sleep and thought I should try again!!! No seats in front of us to recline into our faces. Leg room was pretty ok, and I didn't have to get up when the person next to me needed to go to the toilet.

The house is in the Hollywood Hills, overlooking Universal. The road to get up here is crazy. DH is going to get me to film it cause he doesn't think anybody would believe it. I have some pics from the house that I'll upload later. It is older, and the floors creek, but other than that love it.

OK, today, went to the Grove and took DD to American Girl. Had lunch there too. Went to Wholefoods across the road and got some steak for dinner that DH is cooking now :-) And icecream that isn't full of processed stuff. DD is having trouble with her legs again :-( think from all the stop/start, extra standing, etc. We're still doing all her physio and I'm really hoping that we can avoid a wheelchair in Disneyland next week.

We're not too sure about tomorrow yet - I've been hit with a heavy head cold, so I'm struggling a bit. Hopefully will get a good night's rest.

We drove up through the suburbs in Hollywood Hills a couple of years ago. I agree the roads are crazy, steep narrow, blind bends, and no verges so driving right next to the sides of the houses.

A couple of months ago we were at The Grove at American Girl. I loved that shop (perhaps even more than my daughter did!)

Hope you get over the cold soon.

I'm so envious of you right now! When we went for a drive through the Hollywood Hills last year I quite fancied myself living in one of the hidden little houses up there - and you're a actually doing it.

Enjoy :cool2:

Quick update - been in Disneyland for a few days now. Nearly froze on Sunday night. It was near record lows and we had Fantasmic seating. It felt like snow!

Today the weather warmed up and it was Jeans and T-shirts for perhaps a few hours!

Loved RSR, DD has done Splash a heap even at night, at least with a poncho! Met Merida and Aladin. And after 4 trips finally saw the Tiki Room.

Heading out to dinner soon!

Like the house rental.

Glad you're having a good time. How's the cold?

:wave2: glad your still having fun despite the cold we love RSR as we'll and my little confession we haven't been in the TIKI room ;)

A lot better- I'm about 90% there now, so feeling nearly normal!!! Completly exhausted though, naturally.

I have another confession - only saw Aladdin and Muppets 3D today for the first time too!

I just saw something on the news about the freezing weather. Stay warm, feel better, and I hope you re-gain your energy soon.

And we're home! 6 suitcases between the three of us, the most shopping so far!

Best trip ever. I'll start a proper trip report in the next day or so.

Sounds wonderful. I have never thought of renting a house before. Sounds like a good idea…
We loved the Grove. My dd is 16 and still likes American Girl..
Looking forward to your TR :goodvibes:)
