After all the panic we did get away on time.
Had a good time overall, stayed at the Kyriad first night and wouldn't hesitate to book it again over the Cheyenne or Santa Fe, kettle in the room, complimentary welcome pack of coffee tea and biscuits, wifi in the hotel, stacks of TV channels and despite what I'd read, friendly knowledgeable staff.
At DLP I forgot to ring to request a room near the park, but we got one anyway in Sundance and it was ready at 10.00 am in the morning :thumbsup2
Spookily, well I thought it was, everyone else said it was just coincidence we had room 1038 in both the Kyriad and the Cheyenne !
Room at the Cheyenne had new TV, still very limited channels though and a digital room safe :thumbsup2 25 euros (refundable) to hire a kettle :scared1:
Heating in the Cheyenne rooms goes off in the morning and doesn't come back on until 6.00pm, normally not a problem, but I was poorly with a heavy cold and chest infection, so we weren't staying out all day, reception did say they'd send someone out to change the setting for us, but didn't.
I think it was a mixture of staying at HNY earlier this year combined with seeing the higher standard set by the same star rating Kyriad hotel, but Cheyenne really didn't do it for me this time. :sad2:

Cast members - once again couldn't fault any of them, at check in I requested 7.00 am breakfast slots, by the end of the day, I felt so rough, it didn't seem like such a good idea, so I went and spoke to a very lovely lady, who swapped them to 8.30, she was so nice that I asked her if there was any chance of GMF breakfast coming up during our stay, there weren't any at all at check in, she said she'd see what she could do and then rang me in our room an hour later to say she'd sorted one for Sunday for us at the Plaza Gardens, she'd left a note in the VIP book for her colleague for me. :goodvibes
Also have to mention the lady taking the breakfast tickets who was lovely and so funny, we didn't make it to breakfast until 10.00-10.30 any morning, so had to apologise for being late, she said we were very lazy and she would have to come and get us in future.

Food prices - OMG !!! last time we went I had the free dining offer, the time before that I had pre-purchased the HB vouchers, what a shock to the system this trip was - our highest food bill 158 euros at the Steakhouse for 3 of the cheapest steak and chips, 1 burger and chips, 4 desserts and 2 soft drinks each for the boys, add to that 32 euros for 2 pints of lager and 2 mojitos, believe me Rob will never complain at our bill and Frankie and Benny's again !
Found a little gem today though in Colonel Hathi's, can't believe we've never been in there before, 12 euros 30 cents for a large pizza, salad bowl, magnum icecream dessert and a large soft drink, the best value for money meal we had during our stay and it was very nice. :thumbsup2

New Stuff - Toy Story Playland Fantastic theming and we loved the parachutes, Slinky dog a bit too tame, me and Liam rode it but felt a bit silly, RC Racer, I didn't feel well enough, the boys didn't want to and Rob wouldn't go on his own.
Capt EO, we watched it, it's more than a bit naff, but when you're cold and wet it passes half an hour, Liam said he quite liked it and the effects were better than I was anticipating but the the storyline is dire, a must for MJ fans, don't let me put you off.

MNSSHP - It was absolutely freezing so we put as many clothes underneath our costumes as we could fit, got some really strange looks walking to the park, Jamie felt really uneasy as there weren't that many people dressed up and he ended up taking his off, Liam had a ball in the Phantom costume we made, he even had people taking his photo outside Phantom Manor, 1 family wanted him in their photo and naturally the CM's made a fuss of him.
Capt. Jack was the funniest though, he did a funny double take jump and said "I thought I got rid of your lot in the first film !"
We didn't watch the MNSSHP shows, the rides were too amazingly empty to miss, we were the only people on Snow White at one point. Frontier/Halloweenland was amazing but the dry ice played havoc with my chest and I was very poorly that night, I coughed constantly for hours, not even my inhaler stopped me, but it was worth it, we had a great night and we stayed until the end to watch the Cars Calvacade.

Crowds - not too bad Thursday and Friday, but Saturday and today absolutely incredible, I had to queue at Buzz and BTM to get Fast Passes, wait times were longer than any I've seen before, luckily we'd already done everything we wanted to.

Given recent bad reports on park maintenance I found myself looking and to be honest you don't have to look too hard, even Rob, who I always assumed takes no notice whatsoever remarked on the amount of effects not working.
POTC for instance swinging pirate totally missing, mayor not coming up and down out of the well, dog not moving, sword fighters totally out of time, infact 1 had hardly any movement at all.
Don't get me wrong it didn't spoil our trip but it's sad to see. :sad2:

Overall we had a nice time, we didn't rush around like mad things, we didn't do EMH and we actually left the park before it closed, but most of that was down to my not being well. Feeling better for the first time tonight, so guess that means I do have to go to work tomorrow, so better start unpacking.
Wish me luck off to see if the glass baubles I bought are still in one piece.:)

Jill, I'm so glad you got away on time after all and that you've had a great time inspite of being so poorly. Hope you feel better soon  because I can't wait to see those MNSSHP photos!

ETA: That's great news that there was a safe in your room ~ these are long overdue, let's hope they get installed everywhere.

Glad you had a nice time and are starting to feel better.....and that Buzz was open for you it was closed for maintainance on my trip

So many nice baubles to choose from this year ... mine made it back safe hope yours did too our plain baubles will be taking a back seat now no room for them now thinking may need a seperate insurance policy to cover our tree these days its becoming my most valuable asset after 5 years of visiting LOL

So glad you got there. Shame you felt so ill, but I'm glad it didn't spoil your fun.
Thanks for the thumbs up for the Kyriad - we're off there in 25 minutes and that's put me on a high.:goodvibes

Welcome back and hope you feel better soon.:) Not fun being sick on holiday. Thanks for the review - good to know the Kyriad was a good choice - been considering a stay there.

welcome back jill, sorry to hear that u were ill on ur holiday too - its no fun is it?? didnt know that bout the heating, am now glad (again) i struggled to go into the park, as lying in bed i wud have froze!!

we had a kettle in our room - i thought that was standard, but obv not :confused3

hope u did have a good time, even with being ill - ull have to join me for next yr as id like a halloween trip feeling well!!

yaaaaay on liams costume being a hit - u did a fab job on it, so glad it got the recognition it deserved!!!

Welcome back Jill. Glad to hear you had fun in spite of being ill.

Strange how inconsistent some things are in the parks and hotels. We had a kettle but no safe in hotel room in the Cheyenne last month, and the swinging pirate was, well, swinging! The swinging pirate is the strangest - I've had him both swinging and not on the same holiday!

Hope your baubles made the trip on one piece!

So glad you got there and back okay Jill - and survived another weekend trip :).
Its weird how the attractions can change from day to day - a fortnight ago everything was working on POTC, swinging pirate included, but last December, one day at least a quarter of the animatronics in IASW weren't moving, and the next day they were all okay again :confused3.

glad you got there and back ok. sorry you was feeling unwell. we either was sick or felt sick last time we went and that does spoil it for those days. Great news about the Kryaid, its my top choice for offsite hotels.

Hi jill, cant believe after all the build up you end up being ill!!! Glad you had a good time though.Do you have to pay for the new safes or are they free of charge???

Welcome back, shame about POTC. It was working great last month, even the pirate was swinging.

glad you got there and back ok :)
hope you are feeling better?

we arrived back a few hours ago, looked out for you but didnt see you,I dont think! lol

agree about POTC :( noticed lots of parts not working etc and on IASW too

had a fabulous time though ,I just love all the pumpkin men and decs etc :goodvibes

sunday was busier than sat i thought
we managed lots of rides in the mornings, then of course it got busier as the day went on,but we never queued more than 40 mins all weekend

saying that we didnt do parachute jump 80 mins! and crush also 80 mins! yesterday :( no way will i ( or the kids!) queue for that long, will just have to do them next time ;)

everything else we wanted to do though was not too bad, for a half term wkend!

worst part of the wkend was hubby being sick after RnRC :confused3:rotfl:
he didn't know it went upside down ...... oops!

Will definitely stay @ Le Chene Gris again,15 mins or so to Disney and the nicest mobile home we have ever had in France so far, really modern and lovely staff onsite, nice meal in the restaurant too

quite a few UK people also on the SUN holidays ( was eavesdropping while checking in :rotfl: )

Right next to the train station shold a trip to Paris be on the cards

Not going next year :( as doing a big 2 week Caribbean hol for Xmas,
but will def be back in 2012!

xx

Thanks everyone, I am feeling a bit better today - typical !

I wasn't going to mention IASW Rachel, but yes there were a lot of dolls not working, on the plus side though Dumbo looks fabulous since it's refurb, PM the same and on the suspension bridge, all the canvas and ropes look as though they've been completely renewed, the umbrella at Les Parapluies de Cherbourg was working, I have never seen it work before, there were characters everywhere and there seemed to be constantly a show on the stage :thumbsup2 and for those going at christmas, I saw that they were rehearsing Mickey's Winter Wonderland show :)

We probably queued for about 45 mins for the parachutes the first time, second time slightly less, as they asked for a group of 2 and me and Liam managed to queue jump 2 lanes, unfortunately we ended up around the opposite side to Rob who was going to take our photo, I have a pic of our boots from behind !

We had a kettle in the Cheyenne room last time too Steve, it seems to be luck of the drawer, but the provision of a room safe is well overdue, they are free and digital you choose your own numerical password.

Not that I have any plans to return before 2012 but if I did I would probably choose the Kyriad over Santa Fe or Cheyenne, if I was looking at a budget hotel, having said that Liam has already asked if next time we can stay at the DLH so I'd better start saving. lol

Oh and forgot to say the Shareholders card was a godsend, the shares have paid for themselves in this one trip on our food bills alone, we didn't manage a trip to Salon Mickey.

I will look out for the safe next time Jill - very handy.

We didn't manage even one trip to Salon Mickey on our last trip either - oops!

me 3 - we didnt make it to salon mickey either!!!

i did see the safe, now i think bout it - didnt realise a) it was free, and b) u cud choose ur own number d'oh :headache: will know for next time!!

jill - glad ur better now, but it still sounds like it was nice time there!! does it work out cheaper at kyriad - cudnt remember if u r ap holders or not? saying that, cheyenne is like a pair of old familiar socks, wud be lost if i wasnt there lol

wud love dlh to try out tho (didnt make it in there either - maybe i need a longer trip next time?!?!? ;)) good choice liam lol

I am finally feeling better, well I haven't been alternating between Beechams Flu Plus capsules and Ibuporfen today for the first time in 12 days, with hindsight I think I had flu, I've never felt so awful and for so long. Anyway I'm catching up on everything now so here are our outfits from MNSSHP.
