Colin, DH, and I came home from the hospital today. :) I know DH wasn't able to give y'all many details, so here we go...

As many of you know, I saw my dr on Monday, June 30th and I was 2 cm dialated, but she NEVER said anything like I could go into labor any day. She just said that I'd be induced in a couple of weeks due to my high blood pressure.

Wednesday, June 2nd, I woke up around 5:30 am to go to the bathroom (as usual) and I noticed that something just wasn't right. DH was supposed to go to New Orleans to teach, so I kept debating whether or not he should stay home. When his alarm went off at 6am, I got up again to go to the bathroom, and that's when my water broke! DH and I had to frantically run around the house and pack my bag...we thought we had two more weeks!

When we arrived at the hospital around 7ish, I was dialated to 4cm. Since my doctor planned on inducing me two weeks early due to high blood pressure, she decided to let me deliver even though I was only 35w6d. Around 9ish, I asked for epidural because contractions were getting worse (and apparently I had had a few contractions the day before and just didn't realize what they were!). They checked me after the epidural and I was dialted to 9cm!

Around 11ish I started pushing w/ the nurse and around noon we were moved to the delivery room since baby was under 36wks (dr tried to cheat and let me have it in the room since I was a day shy of 36 wks, but hospital said no). Colin was born at 12:42. He was 6lbs 7ounces and 19 inches long and perfect. :)

I'm still amazed at how fast everything went! Our parents came visit us today and came home with us to help us clean (house was a mess since we weren't expecting him!). So far everything is going well. I'll keep y'all updated as much as possible.

And here are some pictures, as promised:

He's adorable! Congratulations!

Jacob was born at exactly 35 weeks, so I know what you mean by not having the house clean and not being ready. Get used to it. You're going to feel like you're always one step behind for quite a while now, but it's wonderful. :D

Congratulations! You are just glowing, and Colin is so cute!

He shares a birthday with my fiance Ted! Enjoy your new little boy and try to get some rest. The housecleaning can wait another 18 years!:D

I'm so glad things worked out ok. He's beautiful :)

Now you can study, study, study, yeah right, like you'll have time for that now ;)

OMG, that was like dejavu for me! My DS was also born at 35 wk 6 days and I also had a quick delivery (water broke at 9 am although I didn't start having contractions until 11 am and he was here by 5 pm). He was 6 lbs 4 oz and 19.5" long! I didn't even have time to get an epidural because by the time I thought I couldn't stand it anymore I was almost ready to push and it was too late. He also got sent to neonatal because of that one day (I couldn't believe they were so sticky about one lousy day!). Congratulations and I can relate so well to not being prepared at home! It was a bit of a blessing that I was released from the hospital 6 days before he was because we had a lot of shopping to do (crib and all!). In retrospect we were so unprepared it wasn't even funny (we had planned to do a lot over the Christmas holidays but that didn't quite work out!).

Enjoy your little boy, he's beautiful! I can't believe how fast they grow up - mine will be 5 in Dec. and it still all seems like yesterday sometimes!
