We're Here at Windsor Hills

Ok, ok...my heart is starting to beat faster & I'm getting a little nervous! We rented from Villa Direct for a week in June at the Encantada Resort. I had NO IDEA there were 'issues' with this company. Am going to do a 'search' after I reply to this thread. We have already paid final payment & are really looking forward to our pool townhome. BUT, now I'm worried about these horror stories!

I would not worry, the townhomes at Encantada are brand new. The community is not even complete. I would think they all would be in "brand New" condition. They are the same builders that build Emerald Island.

Hi Everyone,

We arrived here at WH on Sat. Everything was fine getting here. Kids loved the flight, by dh and I were a little white knuckled. Those AirTran planes are small!

Ahh, you have yet to truly live. The 717's are the old DC9/MD80 updated design from the Boeing McDonnell-Douglas merger. Actually they are reasonably sized 100 passenger commercial(heavy) jets. For REAL fun you need to fly into NY LaGuardia on a 10 - 15 passenger Beech King-Air or similar size aircraft in a crosswind. The long final approach is right over the bay and you get a great view coming in. Once on short final you'll see the copilot keep his hands on the engine and prop controls - ready to push them to the wall in case they need to execute a missed approach/go around - I did this once!:scared1: Looks a bit like landing on an aircraft carrier(now just imagine the runway moving too!). More thrilling than any theme park ride...:rotfl:

That's what I thought...coming from our little airport (PWM), the 717 and 737 definintely count as "big" planes.

Back on topic, I'm renting from an owner this summer, picking up keys from a lockbox. He says his MC is a small family-run company, I'm not sure which one. The owner himself is a little bit disorganized so I"m keeping my fingers crossed.

PWM is a great little airport. We have had good luck with it (although BGR is our "home" airport)!

Our villa owner used a small family run company "Disney Area Vacation Homes" and we thought they were the bees knees! So don't let the idea of a "small, family run" MC make you worry.

And, in general, please don't worry about problems you don't yet have and may never have. The OP and other concerned renters have gotten some great tips from owners on this thread, and are armed with quick ways to solve the problem IF -- and it is a big "IF" -- it occurs.

(Heck, there's a thread on the Resorts board about bedbugs at Port Orleans Riverside. I mean, honestly, who can predict these things?)

Have a great trip!

Yup, I know. My challenges with my owner are that he's disorganized (e.g., doesn't always remember what was said, lost my deposit check and I had to stop payment on it and pay him again). I'm hoping this is going to be a great trip because I had a convention room booked at CSR and canceled it...dealing with CRO is very easy in comparison.

Not a chance. There is no way you would get me on one of those, unless I could have a few cocktails first. The thing that freaked me out the worst was having my kids there with me. I was so on edge, wanting them to have a good experience. They watched movies and colored. Duh.
