We're here at Kidani! photos added

LOL my family had that unit 2 years ago and we actually liked the room in the middle that the island would have otherwise taken up. We didnt ask for a HA unit but we got it. Loved the location, the only thing that bothered me was the bed was too low. We don't cook in our unit so the kitchen counter being too low was a non-issue. We eat breakfast in our unit at times and my kids thought it was nice that the milk was right next to the kitchen table LOL!

Okay, so I have done 3 of this week's cultural presentations from the African exchange people, and all have been different and wonderful. The first night was Titus speaking about Namibia and the animals, and culture of the many diverse groups in his country. Last night was Harold who spoke of South Africa and gave us a "sports" tour of the country. Tonight was Elesette also from South Africa who spoke about Africaan's language and their national anthem etc. All have been extremely informative and engaging young people who are thoroughly enjoying their time in a new country. The enthusiasm is contageous! If you are staying at Kidani, don't forget to take advantage of these presentations. They are done in the Library at 8:15 each evening. The young people must plan their own presentations, and all are very well done!:thumbsup2

I would have a hard time with an HA room myself but they might have me by calling it a KA room.....Kid Accessible for age 6 and up. :goodvibes This could be a bad thing for some, but could be a break for others depending on how you set it up. :)

Zev, I would not want to have young people in this HA unit. They would be able to reach everything better than I can. :lmao: Everything is too low.

We were the only ones at our presentations as well. A diamond in the rough!!!

Yes, we were the only ones last night too. People need to know about this at take advantage of it. It's one of the best things I've found at Kidani. LOVE the animals, LOVE the embiance, LOVE the cultural exchange aspect...BUT...HATE the darkness of the rooms, HATE how inconvienience some of the layout is with the closets etc, and not too thrilled with the quality of housekeeping here. Let's just say no tip will be left.

Enjoying your TR. DS and I are going for a quick unscheduled trip end of January. We are in a Jambo Studio, Savannah view. This will be our first time staying at AKV. I have wanted to stay there since it opened....so hopefully won't be disappointed!! I'm looking forward to my book, coffee and the Savannah!!!

Thanks for the info on the presentations! We will definitely check those out next time we're there. I hope they don't cancel them if not enough people are showing up.

We had a HA 2 BR at OKW once, and it wasn't too bad but I definitely will avoid them in the future if possible. That is a strange setup!

Sounds like you're having a great time -- thanks for sharing!:goodvibes

Well everybody, most of the time Somebody has to stay in the HA rooms. If there aren't enough handicapped people who have reserved them, then we are going to get them once in a while. To those of you saying you would have demanded a new room, on what basis? Because someone else should get it besides you? How should that be decided? The member that complains the least should get it?

The OP mentioned this was the first time in 15 years. I'd say we should all be so lucky. I figure once every 10 trips is fair. If only their system would track such a thing and assign them based on whose "turn" it is. :)

LOL! Yep, I think it was my turn!

Diane.... I know the feeling of getting a HA unit when it's not needed....January 2010 we were booked for a 2 bdrm at BLT since we had our three kids (all young adults) and our grandson with us. Same situation as with you......when we arrived room wasn't ready so off we went......our oldest son (28 at the time) had a sinus infection and after the flight wasn't feeling the best...so when we received the text that the room was ready he left MK and headed back to BLT to rest. He went into the room and checked it out quickly, but, obviously didn't notice the low kitchen counters, etc.(typical guy) and simply went into the 2nd bdrm for a nap. As soon as we arrived a few hours later (late evening as you did) I immediately realized it was a HA room, but, since he had already slept in one of the beds and unpacked some of his stuff we also didn't bother to call and asked to be changed. However, I will say, if it should ever happen again.......I will immediately request a change since my husband is also over 6 ft tall and it was awful for him the entire week. I'm only 4'11" and I even had a difficult time..especially with the kitchen sink as you mentioned. I'm guessing my problem was because I've adapted to higher counters over the years.
