If you have a car and a non Disney day.. then hit one of the local beaches... or head on down to San Diego ... the Zoo or Sea World.. get on Hy 5 and go straight... Knotts Berry Farm is about 10 minutes away from D/L..
Also if you have a car ,,, then there is a Target up the road on Harbor... to buy groceries and goods.. and round the corner, down a bit is a VONS..(Safeway) aslo along Katella , is a strip mall with a huge grocery store,, that is reasonably priced .
Medieval times is fun if you like that kind of thing for dinner..
We take our own lunch into the parks and then buy dinner there... or leave and go to Bubba GUmps or the Cheese cake factory... around the corner on Katella..
WE like to eat at the Bakery on the Pier at C/A, They do wonderful soups in bowls..
Flos can be hit or miss.. but if you want to sit and eat for the atmosphere I have never had anyone tell us to move while eating our own food at the outside tables..
The Dole whips.. sometimes is quicker to go inside to the Tiki Room waiting area and get in line there... other times its just as long...
Beignets from the Mint Julep bar near the exit from the New Orleans Train station.. are very good...
There is an indoor flea market with a Hispanic flair , they have a free shuttle,, pretty cool.. some good deals... I needed to make a running trip there one year.. as my sons suitcase died .. got one for $20.. and still use it..
We havent done Universal studios as my son is not really into films.. but I went twenty odd years ago and had fun..
Hope you have a great time..
