We're Going to be Lonely

I just checked the 12/16/04 3 day Wonder booking on Travelocity to see just how booked it is. We are in a Cat 7, Deck 5, and 7 out of the 10 cat 7's are still availalble. And, Travelocity only displays 7 available staterooms so more could be available.

Then I decided to check Cat 6's and the Cat 6's on deck 5 aft, right next to the Cat 7's are available as well.It does appear all Insides and Oceanviews are gone but the higher cat 7 and up are begging for takers.

Are we going to be all alone in Deck 5 aft? Might be quiet, my husband likes that idea.

Hmm, I wonder if they'll move the few of us who are back there (if anyone else) to a higher category to consolidate us in one location - sure would save the room steward from coming back for just a few guests.

Well, it is only Oct 1 so possibly more people will book but this is before Xmas break starts for most schools (my son will miss 3 days of school as we need to travel from Seattle) so there's a good chance it will be a less than full sailing.

I've been thinking about this cruise or the 12/12 4 day. I see cat 8's coming up as GTY, so I bet the 9-12's are booked and oversold as GTYs, so I would imagine that some or all of those available cat 7s will ultimately be used for upgrades from lower category GTY rooms if not sold.

We're in a deck 5 Cat. 7 aft (5634, I think) on the 12/12 cruise, which was just about sold out by the time I booked (early August, I think!). We wanted a Cat. 12 or 11, but the lowest we could get was a 7, so we're giving it a try. Don't be surprised, though, if it does book up fairly quickly now that final payments are due...people seem to come out of the woodwork at the last minute at this time of year!

I thought I'd give it a check again the day after final payments are due - will people decide to bail or will more sign up? Honestly, I like the stateroom we picked - we purposely chose a cat 7 and I hope I'm not upgraded. Unless of course it's to something equal to or higher than a cat 3.

We have a 5 day Carnival Inspiration booked also the day after we return from the Wonder and it's quite booked - a few of the higher categories left but very few. It makes me wonder if more people don't like traveling the weekend before Xmas so they can join in Xmas festivities before they leave. We'll be away from home Dec 15 - 25th so have decided to put up only a small artificial tree before we go so it will be there when we get home Xmas night. And I do this because I have an 11 year old who does need to celebrate.
