After months of less than enthusiastic responses from DW, yesterday I asked her if we should go to the World with our two daughters for Christmas-09.

I was shocked by her enthusiasm, so we booked at CBR for Dec 25 2009 to Jan 1 2010 right away! :woohoo:

Of course we won't be able to book flights for a few months yet but does anyone know what airfares might be expected to do for 2009?

Any predictions I've seen were for higher and higher fares. Anyone in the industry able to help?:confused3

Edited to add that we'll be flying out of Edmonton.

I could only imagine flying on Christmas Day and New Years would be the most expensive dates...?

Actually with family spread across the country we used (haven't done it in several years) to get pretty good prices, fewer airport crowds, and more relaxed service when flying on Christmas Day and New Years. It seems everyone wanted to travel before or after the day, so it was a better deal.

Today, who knows?

I just bought my ticket home for Christmas. The savings on flying New Years was cheaper than any other day. However, I have noticed seat sales for those weeks are rare.

Since it's a peak traveling time seat sales would be very rare. The same goes for any kind of discount at WDW over Christmas. :santa:

Which airline does everyone else use to go to WDW(from Edmonton)? Last March/April we flew United from Edmonton through Denver. In fact we were on the Skywest plane that slid off the end of the runway in Edmonton on April 5! :rolleyes1

Lately we've been flying Westjet and really like them so far.:thumbsup2

We are taking Westjet from Calgary to Orlando this christams leaving on Dec 25, returing on Jan 4 and we booked our tickets by the end of Feburary. It seems like the price has not been changed much since.

Not too surprising. Is that a direct flight from Calgary? So your airfare is about what it is now?

Congrats!!!! We love CBR also and the new resort pool is awesome. You will have a magical trip. So much fun planning too!

It is direct flight to and from MCO. The price was about $1400 per person when I booked it back in February. Our tickets for last Christmas leaving Dec15, returning Dec 29 was only $550 each taxes in.

I had a companion voucher for this trip from Westjet so my 2 return tickets to MCO cost me about $1500 and I got the other 2 tickets from airmiles. I can't really ccomplaint our tickets for 4 of us only cost $2000 for this christmas trip.
