It's true! We're going back for more... and taking a newbie with us, too!
October 18 - 26, 2013 and staying at Art of Animation in a Lion King Family Suite
I am beyond ecstatic to be starting another pre-trip report! We were supposed to be going in January 2013, but stuff happens and we moved that trip to October 2013. I'm ok with that though. I am dying to go to the Food & Wine Festival and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party!
I guess I should introduce myself, eh? I'm L-Harper, the wife of Matt, mom to Noah (5) & Tyler (3), and aunt to Kristina (16). I am a new Disney fanatic in DIS terms. I never went on a Disney vacation as a child and my first trip was September of 2011. I was hooked before I even stepped foot on property. It all started when I was pregnant with Tyler and wanted to plan a vacation for our family once the yet-to-be-born child was 2. Yes, I'm a huge planner and started planning that far in advance. See, we hadn't had a real vacation since our honeymoon, had two kids back-to-back, and we didn't want to take a baby on a vacation. That first family vacation with my littler herd was so very important to me and was much needed. Ok... back to that first trip. It was:
MAGICAL.
AMAZING.
UNFORGETTABLE.
NEARLY PERFECT. (Except for the fact that we had to call 911 the day before we left for home and have our oldest son rushed to the ER since he was having serious trouble breathing at 3am. Turns out he had a bad case of croup and bronchitis. The cast members and the EMS staff were AMAZING.)
That first trip truly changed who I was as a person. I will honestly never be the same again. It's so cliche, but it's totally true, Disney World really is the happiest place on Earth and is so very magical.
Here we are from that first trip:

We were VERY fortunate and so lucky to be able to return 6 months later in March of 2012. That trip was kind of last minute, not super planned out, and just wasn't the same. It was a combination work/pleasure trip, we drove, and took a baby sitter with us so she could watch our boys while we were doing the work portion of the trip. Don't get me wrong, we had fun, but it just wasn't the same.
I'm hoping that this next trip will have that same magical feeling as the first. The boys will be quite a bit older and able to do more things. They ask constantly when we can go back. We've since taken in our 16 year old niece who has never been on a vacation in her life. I cannot wait to share Disney World with her. She absolutely lights up whenever we talk about going. I get goose bumps when I think about how her face will be the first time she sees the castle.
To be continued...
