We're goin to Hilton Head!! Tell me everything!!

We just booked a 1BR for Sunday May 11-Friday, May 16 for myself, DH and DS, who will be 3 1/2 when we go. I am so excited to see this resort, it sounds so beautiful!!

We will be driving from Philadelphia, and this will be our first looonggg trip so I need lots of suggestions for a pleasant trip. Also, can anyone suggest a place to stay overnight. I am not sure what our best driving sceniero will be, leaving Sat and driving Sat day stay over and finish up or leave late Sat night and just hope for the best...any advice on that would be so helpful

Also, what are some of the activities there and can DS get in on any of them. We love to make things and I have heard about crafts, etc...are there any??? Do I have to reserve anything in advance, bikes or any of the activities?

Restaurants...we all know that its all about the food when it comes to vacations...need kid friendly suggestions for good food

I know that I am early with this, but I am so excited and just want to jot things down as I come across (right now I can NOT get any searches to work for me so forgive me for asking questions that I know have been answered over and over again!!)

We spent Thanksgiving at HH and are going back for Christmas week. It was the most relaxing vacation we have ever had. The kids --DD14 and DS9 had an awesome time and have been begging to go back (they don't know about the Christmas trip!) There is sooo much to do there. We have a list of about 10 things we didnt' get to do and another 10 we did and want to do again. If you want to pm or email me, I will be glad to answer all your questions.
Btw, we stayed in a 1BR building 19 and LOVED the proximity to the pool and everything else!!!

HH is a great resort.

Since you live in Philadelphia, the trip down to HH should take approximately 10 hours. (It is 12 hours for me from Bergen County.) I would not stay over on the trip down or back. I would simply drive straight down 95. If you leave in the early morning, you should be past the DC area before it gets too congested and you will thus avoid the major traffic slow-downs. You will also be in HH that much quicker!
