We went to an Open House at one of the trailer places here after we got home from Disney, and we picked out a new trailer. It's a 29' Jayco Flight. I can't wait! :cheer2: We traded in our Motor Home because we felt too confined to the campgrounds when we travelled. We love to get out and see what the town has to offer when we travel. So now we just have to buy a truck. If not we'll go seasonal somewhere. I can't wait to bring our new baby home. :yay: Thanks for listening. Has anyone got one of these trailers? Love to know how you like it!

Congratulations on your new camper. We have a 30' Airstream which tends to be a little lighter than most brands and I tow with a 3/4 ton diesel crew cab (F-250). I would recommend that you get a 3/4 ton truck for your trailer too. You may not need a diesel, but I am a firm believer in the more is better principle when it comes to towing power. Very few trailer towers trade down in power, so stick with a 3/4 ton. A 3/4 ton gasoline engine cost only a few hundred dollars more new than a 1/2 ton truck when it is new. Diesels on the other hand can run several thousand more so go that route only if you think you will tow often enough or in the mountains enough to justify.

As far as brand of trailer, I can't help you. This Airstream is our first camper ever, but we do love it and as a veteran to camping you already know you enjoy the call of the wild.

Enjoy your new trailer and get out and enjoy it as soon as you get it!

We towed a 32' Airstream (Argosy) trailer with a 3/4 ton Suburban. Traded up to a 1 ton F-350 diesel and were much happier. More power and lots better gas mileage!

No doubt the Country Coach is a beauty of a coach, but too bad you don't still have your Argosy.

  !!! Congratulations!!! We don't have one but checked out several Jayco lightweights and the quality seemed very good. The couch was residential-worthy and very comfy (it was one of the jack-knife type couches that opens into a bed). Time to pick a weekend to test it out!!

Yes, I'm excited to pick out a w/e and get out in it! It's so sunny here today, but still cold. Kids are on March break in a few hours, no big plans. I'm going to get them to do their chores early in the week that I want done of them(just their closets), then when the trailer is delivered at the end of the week, we can have fun exploring and packing it. And I'm sure there will be a few sleep overs in it before they head back to school.
I thought we'd be ok with a half tonne truck, we're in flat land, mountains are hours away from us. We're also really starting to think about just going seasonal for the first year. DH and I both drive Limo and Prom season and weddings kept us very busy last year, and we weren't able to get out as much as we'd like to. So we thought if we can only get out a night a w/e until proms are done, then seasonal would be better for us, because we wouldn't pay for just one night. And when they get out of school we'll spend the majority of the time at the trailer and DH will commute to work! We went to drop off our Motorhome last night, and just had to walk through our new Trailer one more time. I had a lot of storage issues. We'll have a lot more, but you know how it goes, I had to know exactly where everything was going. It helped to alleviate my anxiety:rotfl: ...for now!

I can understand about the storage issues. My wife spent about a year buying stuff for the Airstream before we actually bought it. She had everything from dinnerware to sheets and other linens. Everything we needed to be comfy. I was afraid we wouldn't have a place to store it all. We actually had left over interior storage spaces, but because Airstreams are so close to the ground, we do have a shortage of exterior storage space and the model we bought has more than most Airstreams.

I know you will have a ball when your camping season starts and you'll have fun this weekend putting everything in its place. Good luck and happy camping!

Just got a call from the dealership where we bought the trailer, and the salesman said I have good news! I thought maybe we were getting our trailer early...no such luck. But upon checking our purchase order they forgot to give us the cash back offered as an Open House Incentive. So, we now have a $600 store credit to stock up our new trailer!!:cool1:
Just thought I'd share my good news!!

Our new Dutchemen 29QBS will be here one week from Monday so I know your excitement. We're busy deciding where to go and when for the summer. We're heading to Disney in September and giving Ft. Wilderness at try.

All this talk makes me want to clean and dewinterize my TT and go camping!

We've not had a Jay Flight but have had a Jayco and I have to say, they are very well made trailers. We have a 38' Coachmen travel trailer right now and it is very, very poorly made. We love the set up of the Coachmen but honestly it is falling apart. Our Jayco never fell apart in over 10 years!

I bet you really will enjoy your Jay Flight!
