First of all.. To albiats.. thank you for all the info you took the time to gather for me. I do appreciate it and I really, really wish we could use it!!!
But... we found great airfare out of springfield on NW so we jumped on it. I would much rather drive but dh thinks that the 4 hours of flight time will be so much easier on the kids than the drive. I have to agree even if I dont like it.
I am a terrible flyer, and my two little ones have never flown so this should be an.. an... adventure??
Worst part is its a little jet from Springfield to Memphis....ugh!
I just keep thinking happy thoughts!

Groosch Tinky!

You'll be fine! :)
jurst have some gum for the young ones...to help make sure their don't git stuffed up ears!

Relax....it will be a great trip!

The gum is a great suggestion and a must do for little kids on planes. Those ears can hurt pretty bad to a little guy.

If they don't like to chew gum, the point is to keep them swallowing. So constant drinking should work too.

Every year we fly with our children with no problem. We flew the week of 9/11 and could not get ourselves on a plane a few days later for the flight home, so we rented a car and drove to Mass. It took us 2 days and would never want to do it again. Now we booked our first flight since then and I am nervous for the first timeabout flying.Just thinking of that looong ride home will help me get through it.

We flew the week after 9/11 and though it was nerve racking its definetly worth flying over driving (well if my kids were yours you would agree lol). We have flown several times since then and have had no problems. Just get there in plenty of time and be prepared to wait. Good luck!!

Hi kidzmom3. We went the same time last year and we are going at the same time this year.We just moved from Mass. a few months ago. We're still neighbors.

Hi kdmak, There do seem to be quite a few dis'ers from our corner of the country. We aren't going until November this year :( . Too bad because we had great weather the week after 9/11 last year and although the park mood was sometimes highly patriotic some of the solemnity had passed and people were determined to have a good time.

I have flown on the smaller jets and they are fine but like others here have mentioned kids ears can really pop and hurt.

My 11 y.O. son was in tears and you know boys don't cry in public if they can help it so I'm going to give a wonderful tip that we used on our return trip and it worked perfectly.

They are called EARPLANES- you can get them at the drug store. Put them in your childs ears about one hour before flight.

What a difference they made on our return trip!!

I hope this helps you as much as it helped us!

Rooth:)
