I just wanted to share our news. Charles proposed
Sunday, during our trip to Disney World. Here's the
story:
We had a wonderful trip staying at the Animal Kingdom
Lodge with a room that overlooked the animals on the
savannah, and Charles planned several romantic dates
throughout. We went to Cirque du Soleil, on a
carriage ride through Fort Wilderness campground, and
had dinner overlooking the fireworks at the Magic
Kingdom. We were leaving on Sunday (or so I thought),
so we packed up and checked out of the Animal Kingdom
Lodge. We had the bell services store our luggage so
that we could enjoy a theme park in the morning,
before our afternoon departure.
After we went back to the hotel to retrieve our
luggage, Charles sat and waited with our bags while I
went to the restroom to change clothes. When I came
back, he was on his cell phone (or so I thought). He
was upset with the airline for changing our flight
without calling us... just printing it on the
itinerary but not pointing out the change. There was
no way for us to make the flight in time, and with
Easter weekend crowds, there was no chance of even
getting on standby for that night.
So, I wanted to go up to the front desk and see if
there was a room available for the night, but Charles
told me just to relax and he would take care of it.
He was up at the front desk for awhile, then came back
and told me that there were no rooms available at that
hotel for the night, but they had given him a few
other options, and he had chosen a room at another
Disney hotel, the Contemporary. So, we headed over to
the Contemporary, with me telling the cab driver the
whole way how awful American Airlines was.
We checked in, then headed to the room. When we
opened the door, there were two maids inside who
yelled "Congratulations!" (oops) I didn't pay much
attention to them, though, because I was so surprised
at what I saw. It was a little suite, and there were
seven dozen roses in vases around the room, as well as
a trail of rose petals leading from the doorway,
through the entryway, and around the corner up to the
bed. There was also a present on the table (too big
to be a ring). I was just so shocked, because I had
no idea; I really thought we were supposed to have
been leaving and had missed our flight!
I wanted to open the present, but Charles pulled out
his mp3 player and speakers and wanted to dance. As
some of you may know, I am able to pinpoint exactly
when I fell in love with Charles, and it was dancing
in our little room on a boat between Tallinn, Estonia
and Stockholm, Sweden. So, this was a wonderful
reminder of that. During the third song, he told me I
could open the present. It was a glass slipper with
"Will you marry me?" engraved on the side. While I
was staring at it, he got down on one knee and gave me
a ring.

So that's the story. We're home safely now. It was
an amazing, amazing trip. It was especially
interesting getting the seven dozen roses home through
the airport!
We are seriously thinking of having the wedding at WDW, so I will be reading EVERYTHING on this board to learn as much as I can about it.
