After thinking about becoming a member in DVC, we have decided to do it!! I am really excited as I just LOVE WDW. Now for some questions...

I am going to try and by a resale. Hubby wants it at VWL, but I would like OKW. Any thoughts?

We already have a trip booked for 12/18-12/27. If I buy into DVC now, do you think I will be able to get a DVC room for those dates? I know it's getting kind of late.

Thanks everyone in advance for any and all ideas!!

Why not buy two smaller contracts? That way you could have one at OKW and one at VWL. How many points were you planning on? I would suggest 100 at one resort and 100-150- at the other. Because VWL is one of the smaller DVC resorts, it will be more difficult to get in there mid to late December, but you should have a chance at OKW or SSR. The wait list is always a possibility.

Good idea Diane, thanks. But how would that work? If I have points at 2 resorts would they both be home resorts? Would I be able to make reservations 11 months out at both even though I would need to combine points? I am looking to buy at least 250 points and maybe more.

Sorry for the questions but I just don't understand.

Congratulations on your decision to buy!

We're trying to add on more points at VWL through Disney, it's going to be a long long time I fear before we get it, just seems to be none available. We have 50 there and we're empty nesters, so it's OK for a studio there for 4 days in December, but not much else. Our other points, 200, are at BWV and those are just right for that location for us. When we bring family and friends that's where we'll book first and will be very happy. We did get this Vero vacation break without having points there, and we have a 2 night stay in May at BCV, also without having points there.

So, if you go with the 2 resorts, I definitely second dianeschlicht, 100 in one and 100-150 in the other at least.

You only get the 11 month window for the points you own at THAT home resort. Yes, you would have two home resorts, so you might have to decide on one resort one year and the other the next, or split your stays between the two resorts. You also could make one reservation at 11 months, and the other at 7, depending on when you are planning to travel. OKW will usually be able to be reserved at 7 months, but VWL may not during busy times.

I would purchase the points @ VWL as there is limited availabilty there in comparison to OKW. The rooms @ OKW seem easier to get at the 7-month window (at least for the time being). Alternate your stays between the two, that way everyone's happy!
