Hello and I'd love your opinions--pos or neg--give them to me!
FIrst of all, my kiddos aren't princess crazy but they've always said to me that they'd love to get inside the castle! I booked a dinner at 7:00 for our day in MK and I think they'll love it. The price is nutty! I can't believe I'm paying @200$ for my fam to eat dinner there. Is it worth it? I'm assuming it is...
We're also going to Kona one night due to the awesome reviews here on the board. Why is it so great? Will it be ok for kids? My twins are 9 and my daughter is 7. I know O'hanas was great for them when we last went but now the menu changed so much I don't want to go back and i'm so curious to try Kona. We're paying OP so how pricey is it? TIA!!!

We ate at the castle in December and the food is wonderful. There are no princesses except Cinderella to greet you and get your picture taken with her. That is included in your package price. After your dinner Suzy and Perla come whizzing by for a quick picture and then the Fairy Godmother comes out. She sings a bit and asks if anyone is celebrating a birthday or anniversary. Then those who have a birthday get a little cake delivered to them, those who have an anniversary get a white box. Inside is a blue "Wishing Star" and underneath that are two champagn flutes with the castle engraved on them. All ladies get a magic wand and all men get a sword.

We had dinner at Kona too. I can't say enough about the food. Our server was always near to clear away dishes and refill our drinks. We make this a must do every year. It was well worth the price. You can check out the prices here.

That was the detailing I was looking for! My daughter will have just celebrated her 7th birthday too! I mentioned it when I made the resvs so maybe she'll get a cake.
Can I ask what did you order at Kona? Did you have children with you too?
I'm feeling a little guilty since I know they'd like O'hanas better since they enjoyed that atmosphere the last time we ate there, but I'm afraid of the supposed menu change.
I just called and spoke to a cm at WDW Dine and he said the menu he has says the potatoes and wontons are being served! I'm confused.......
Thanks again!

I have heard its better to go there for breakfast.. (the pics I seen they had all the princess' not sure if someone can comfirm that or not) The dinner was nice, they didn't have a lot to pick from. I def. wouldn't of paid 200.. (we were on the dining plan thou) The lobster corn soup was soooo good!

moving from the review board to the main dining board for more responses.

If the castle is somewhere you have always wanted to go and are willing to pay $200, go for it! I thin it is overpriced and making it a package deal with pictures is a deal breaker for me. I would rather go to 1900 park faire to see princess, IMHO

Kona food is good. We go there every trip. We have no children though. Regarding menu changes, if there are still things there you enjoy (and it is reported that the 'taters and wontons are gone, disney dining does not always have up to date info), go for it! For everyone who hates a places, there is someone who loves it.

You will have a wonderful time at both. The dinner at Kona is a little better in my opinion. Kona has a fabulous veggie/noodle dish that my DH and I get every time. I am a fan of the cheesecake dessert and he is a fan of the sugar cone ice cream dessert. It is a MUST for your kids. The sugar cone is stuck to the plate standing up with chocolate filled with ice cream and topped with candy, cotton candy and other toppings. It is pretty and yummy!
The castle is beautiful and you will enjoy yourselves but the food isn't all that great. The atmosphere wasn't all that great either. I was a little disappointed. BUT I would go there again. You will have a great time!

When I went to Kona for dinner the food was okay, but the service was terrible. Our dinner took nearly 3 hours due to the service being so slow.

I thought the lunch at the castle was a rip off. I paid $40+ for a turkey sandwich, and they would not serve it with a different cheese. A cheese I knew they had since they had served it on a platter with some fruit when we arrived. When I tried to ask for a bit more cheese on the platter, that request was denied as well. So, I ordered it without cheese. Funny thing was, they also left off the lettuce and tomato--I didn't much care at that point. Seeming from out of nowhere, the waitress returned to the table, bent over to examine my sandwich and said "I didn't tell them to leave off the lettuce & tomato!" And, off she went to get me the lettuce and tomato! Maybe I would have liked it if I were into princesses, but I would have to say that was the worst meal of the trip. (Kona was a different trip)

We ate at Kona this past December and loved it. I started with the sticky wings and they were fantastic.

I had the coconut almond chicken at Kona and it was beyond delicious. My husband had the Asian noodle bowl vegetarian with extra broccoli. It was also delicious and huge! He couldn't finish it. We had the Kilauea Torte for dessert. OMG it was sinful. We've also had the white chocolate cheesecake and that melts in your mouth.

We are in our 60's and 70's, so no children with us. But there were a number of children at Kona and they seemed to be enjoying themselves.

We did lunch there and thought it was worth every cent. It was one of the highlights of our trip. But then my girls are into princesses. Even if they weren't though, it still would have been wonderful.
