Well, well, well. A trip to Disney World. I still can't say it without it seeming like a fantasy. It's just something that's always been way out of reach for us. Being in Canada, a trip like that can be so expensive. But I am so excited to say that it's a dream finally coming true!

I have been a Disney nut for all of my life. Bugging my parents non-stop about wanting to go to Disneyland since I was real young. My family finally made our first trip in 1996 when I was 16. One of the happiest times of my life. So many memories are still so clear in my head like it was yesterday. The taste of a gooey Churro. The lights and sounds of the Electrical Parade. And the cool breeze on your face as your whipping around in the dark on Space Mountain.

I dreamed and dreamed of going back there one day, and my boyfriend (at the time) Dillon and I decided to take a road trip to California with my brother and his girlfriend in October 2010. Dillon had never been, and wasn't sure about Disney until that point. It was a wonderful trip and we have so many more fun memories to keep with us forever. I can say that I've transformed Dillon into a Disney fan.

Since that trip, Dillon and I have had a son, Seth. He is currently 7 months old and the love of our lives. He is a busy little guy, always keeping us on our toes.

When he was just 2 months old, we got the opportunity to take another road trip down to Disneyland. And we brought him with us! Yes, I know that sounds crazy, but it really wasn't that bad, and he only came into the park with us for one day. My mom was visiting a friend down there, and so she babysat while Dillon and I went alone. We all won. Gramma got her Seth fix, and we got to go to Disneyland! Seth got to spend one day there too. We couldn't bring him all the way to California, and not at least meet Mickey Mouse.

Anyways, during that trip, Dillon proposed...at Blue Bayou...in Disneyland!! I was so ecstatic and happy. It was such a wonderful moment and certainly made a great memory and another great trip.

Now to the present. In a month from today, we are getting married. Just 4 days after our 5 year anniversary of being together. It's just going to be a small wedding. I am not one for being center of attention or speaking in front of crowds, so it's just going to be our immediate family and one friend each. We are currently working out the details and will gladly share some of them as plans fall into place. :)

Our original plan was to get married in Mexico in July, with just family and a few friends. But due to costs, too many people just weren't able to make it, so we ended up cancelling. My Dad wanted everything to be special, and he felt horrible that my family couldn't arrange this one thing, so he offered to help us pay for a honeymoon to wherever we wanted (with in reason, of course). So we picked Disney World! Finally!! A lifelong dream is coming true. Well, a few are, but you get the point.

Our plan is to go in April. I am on maternity leave and have to go back to work by May 1st. I don't want to ask for any time off just after I start working, so April is when we are going to have to do it. I know that is sooo close, and I am stressing that we won't have time to set plans and make reservations. Grandma will be watching Seth this trip, and it will just be the two of us, so that's one big thing we don't have to worry about, although I know I will be worrying about him and missing him constantly anyways.

I've got lots of plans to make, and I am hoping this PTR will help me lay everything out so we can get the most out of our trip. I am open for any suggestions from anyone to help me plan our dream trip.

Next Post: Resort hopes and Dates.

So, here are the dates we are hoping to go:

April 16th-April 23rd.

All the days are still question marks as I am not sure what day is best to do which park.

Monday April 16th-
Travel Day

Tuesday April 17th-
Park Day - Magic Kingdom (?)

Wednesday April 18th- Park Day - Epcot (?)

Thursday April 19th-
Rest Day - Explore resorts and Downtown Disney (?)

Friday April 20th- Park Day-Hollywood Studios (?)

Saturday April 21st-
Park Day - Animal Kingdom (?)

Sunday April 22nd-
Park Day - Revisit our favourite park, maybe two. We aren't planning on park hopping during most of the trip. But might want to this day. Not sure if we can get park hoppers just for one day?

Monday April 23rd-
Fly home late. Explore and shop during the day

Resort Choices:

We can't afford to stay anywhere too expensive, but would like to see if we can do a step up from the All-Star resorts.

Choice #1 - Port Orleans Riverside

POFQ_EST_1_998.jpg

Choice #2 - Caribbean Beach Resort

CB_EST_1_998.jpg

Choice #3 - Pop Century

We are not able to book until we are officially married (Dad's rules), so I am hoping these choices will still be available come Feb. 18th!

I am here

Since you will be at end of spring break, I would suggest getting the park hoppers

Nothing worst than going to a park and having it be awfully crowded and you being stuck there:goodvibes

POR all the way!!! Big rooms, good food court, gorgeous landscaping..love love it!!!

Need to add some must dos to your list if you don't mind

MK: Buzz Lightyear, Tomorrowland Transit Authority, Monsters Inc Show and Carousel of Progress (classic)

Epcot: Spaceship Earth (It is inside the Big Golf ball looking thing), Gran Fiesta Boat ride, which is in Mexico in World Showcase

Hollywood Studios - Toy Story Mania. But you got to get there early to get fast passes. I forget if I saw this on your list, but Great Movie Ride is a very cute, fast loading ride. Oh and the Muppets 3D show

Nothing to add with AK, as not a fan of that park..

Thank you so much for all the tips! :goodvibes And thanks for pointing out the park hopper thing, that is a good point. Never thought about the parks being busier that time of year.

I will add those to my must dos! :thumbsup2

Hi!! Seth is so cute!! I had totally forgotten you got pregnant a few months after me. That's so great that you got to take him to DLR when he was 2 months old. We thought about taking Alex when he was younger but we decided against it and I'm kinda glad now  That's so wonderful that your DF proposed to you on your trip too. How special :goodvibes

I second everything that Kelly said but I'll add that we LOVED seeing the animals at AK and the safari is a must do as well as Expedition Everest.

Welcome!

Yes, we were a little crazy taking a 2 month old on a 28 hour drive, but we did it! And it wasn't so bad cause back then he slept most of the time. I can't imagine doing it now!

And thank you. I've been lurking on your PTR and your son is a little cutie too! :)

I think I have both the Safari and Expedition Everest on my list, so that's good!

Glad i could help

Althought not a fan of AK, make sure you stop to see the Tree of the Life. Very cool animal carvings all over it. Plus, a movie inside called It's Tough to be a Bug

It's Tough To Be A Bug is cute. It is a hit or miss for me. I did have an interesting experience last time I was in It's Tough To Be A Bug. When we were walking out some guy was convinced Dina and I were gay and was making all sorts of rude remarks. It was like whatever dude, whatever.

Rude! Even if you were, it's rude to make comments like that.

If we get a chance to, we will check it out this trip. I am just not a fan of ANY bugs, so not sure how that will pan out for me, lol.

Well it was a case of add alcohol instant jerk.

You know Kacy isn't either and the fact that it is 3D that was it. It totally freaked her out. Never again.

Well, if I feel brave enough that day, I might just do it!

But a traumatizing experience in a butterfly room at the Calgary zoo when I was ten has pretty much made me a bug-o-phobe for life! :rotfl: (I am sure there is a better word for that).

Nah not crazy. Like you said, they sleep so much at that age it was probably easier!

Thank you :goodvibes

Good! :goodvibes I don't know much about AK since it's not my favorite park but what we have done is fun. I hope to do more this go round since we're taking Alex and it will be more fun for him.

Ironically it is AK that interests me the most. I think it is because it is so totally different than anything at DLR. That and Epcot.

 I think most of us WDW ppl don't care for it because it's an intruder park since it was added so much later. I will say that EPCOT is my favorite park though :goodvibes I wish all the rides I grew up with were still around though.
