I tried posting this before but it never showed up?

We just got back late last night! Thank you to everyone for your advice and thoughts!

Overall, we had a wonderful time. DS is really confused that he has to sit around the house all day today. He wants to go to 'mickey's house'. :flower: The poor thing just doesnt understand!

If you have any questions, ask away!

Staci, I'm so glad that you had a nice time. What did your son enjoy? Was there anything that you'd skip because he was scared or didn't like it? What restaurants did you like? (I ask because we go Oct15, and I have two little ones).

Ds was 23 3/4 months old for our trip. Generally speaking, he is a very brave little boy, and I had never really seen him scared ever before this trip.

Dislikes:

He wasnt a fan of Maelstrom, the Great Movie Ride and Pirates of the Carribean. These are the only two that he actually said OUT and tried to leave during the ride :flower:

He didnt enjoy Haunted Mansion, and spent most of the time clinging to me, but he watched and didnt ask to get out.

Likes:

He loved the MK night parade. I think he loved the Dollar Tree glowsticks about as much as the parade!

He LOVED mickey's philharmagic, buzz lightyears space ranger spin, winnie the pooh ride, the carousel, its a small world, the mexico ride at world showcase, the little mermaid in mgm, playhouse disney, and the lion king in animal kingdom. The little girl next to us in philharmagic was scared and cried because it was loud, but ds wanted to get off our lap and run into the movie, he was cheering and yelling and giving a running commentary the whole time!

He loved both the crystal palace and chef mickeys, i think chef mickeys was his favorite. he was grinning the whole time and we got so many good pictures! he also liked meeting the characters back by mickeys house, we went pretty early (10:30 am) and there was not that bad of a line at all. great pictures.

take your time and follow your kids' leads. go with their schedule. take time to see the little things, like the ducks adn the hidden mickeys and all those little details that us adults tend to look over but kids still find the magic in. if you are getting tired, take a monorail ride, he fell asleep in teh stroller in about 10 seconds on there. we got an air conditioned ride, and he got a good nap.

have fun! take lots of pictures! dont try to do everything, there is always next time!

Thanks, Staci! I'm so excited about going, and these boards have been really great.

We actually have a PS for the Pooh and Friends character meal at Crystal Palace. I'm curious to see how the kids take to the life size characters.

Ds loved the characters, he would just RUN at them and beg for hugs :goodvibes it was so sweet to watch.

The week before we went, I took ds to the public library where clifford was making an appearance. I figured that I should see what his reaction was before wdw. I also thought about chuck e cheeses or somewhere like that. If there is anything like that where you are from, you may consider giving your kids a 'trial run' :teeth:
the characters are pretty good at reading the kids reactions and acting accordingly. We had the first ps at crystal palace for lunch. we were a little short on time cuz we had to catch a flight, and the waitress was awesome, she brought our bill with our drinks becuase we told her about the time crunch. ds was still able to see all the characters, with piglet being the last one right as we walked out the door.

Have a great time!

Thank for info, we are also bringing our two in November, so it is good to know what worked and what didn't. Ours generally nap once a day, did yours? If so, I have heard some people say they would go to the parks and leave after lunch, go and rest, and return to parks around 4pm. Also, did your stay up any later than usual, and if so, how did that work? Thanks again! :sunny:

The best advice I can give you on how to run your daily schedule is to keep your kids on the schedule they are on at home. The first two days because of our early flight and princess bkfst ds was up about 3 hrs earlier than normal, he was pretty tired until after his nap and i dont think he got all that much out of what we did before naptime. THe best way to get things done is to get to the parks early, but if your kids are SLEEPING through the parks, it doesnt really matter how early you got there, they still miss it :rotfl:

DS does still nap. This is what worked for US. I knew that if we tried to go back to the hotel for a nap, we would have a crying baby on the bus, he would fall asleep 5 minutes from the hotel, and not sleep. So when he began to show signs of tiredness in the parks, my DH and brother and dad went to ride on the 'fast' stuff, and I would just start walking away from the crowds (down little paths, through shops, etc). Once he was asleep I would either find an air condtioned corner of a counter service restuarant, or walk through shops, or find a nice water fountain to sit by(the water drowned out the noise of the people). Ds sleeps very well in his stroller, and it was easy for him to get at least an hour nap in the stroller, which is all he really needs anymore. Then, once he woke up, we might do one or two more things with him, but we would head back to the hotel within about 30 minutes of waking up, because while he was rested, I felt he still needed some unstimulated 'down time'. This was usualy about 3 pm, and we would go back to the room, watch 20 minutes or so of cartoons to relax, go for a 30 minute swim/water playground, and then we would have the ngiht to do what we wanted. ON MK days we of course went back there, other days we did DTD, one night we jsut relaxed and played at the hotel, one night we did Chef Mickey's and the monorail, etc.
Ds was in bed each night by about 915. He usually still got around 11 hours of sleep each night. We skipped all the night shows EXCEPT MK. He really enjoyed that parade and I would stay up for it. Since you are going in November the parks will not stay open real late so that shouldnt be a huge deal.

My biggest advice is to just know your kids, and plan the day entirely around them. I catered to his needs the whole trip, and he only whined and threw a fit ONCE during the entire 6 days in the park. Honest. And it was grandma that got him going that time :rotfl: It is such a great place for kids, but it is a lot for them to handle. I cant believe that I just went to DW and didnt do my favorite ride (splash mt) but it just didnt work into his schedule. Thats okay though, cuz he can ride with me next time! :cheer2:
