Got back yesterday, we had a fantastic 17 days, and only came home for DS to get GCSE results (passed 11, really pleased for him).
Highs - our hotel at Highlands Beach Miami (holiday Inn), fantastic, balcony overlooking beach and sea, room excellent and would go back, meals at Olivias cafe, Brown Derby and coral reef just to name a few. DH being chosen as an extra for the Indiana Jones Stunt show ( did not take video camera this day as the weather was horrendous due to Fay arriving that day, and the stunt show was cut short no airplane scene again due to weather), the changes to some familiar rides and Toy Story Mania. The villa was fantasic and well equipped with entertainment, for the evenings or bad weather and our flights with BA, thanks to Upgrade to world traveller plus - due to DH working for BAA, and also due to that a saving of £268 on parking at Terminal 5.Shopping - we got DS 4 pairs of trousers , 3 shirts and a pair of size 14 shoes for the grand sum of $200 - and the shirts were Tommy Hilfiger, shoes Hush Puppies. How cheap everthing was especially petrol altough americans complaining at $3.55 ish a GALLON!!!
Lows - the weather, did some strange things only had one hum dinger of a storm, but had lots of rain, our day at Animal Kingdom was quite literally a washout and Fay, after being there for Charlie 4 years ago this was mild compared but on the early hours of Wednesday morning we had some really strong winds and heavy rain. Some really bad drivers, we had never encountered this before, and can only assume they were foreigners but had them driving at as on the wrong side of the road, speeding etc.
We are really low now as we are home, would love to stay for longer and no new visits planned at the moment due to DS, he has just been accepted into a brand new swimming squad representing London and has to train and compete abroad, and National swimming champs at end of July begining of Aug 09 and AS levels (he wants to be at home for results next summer) we would only manage an 8/9 days holiday, we have decided that we will plan for 2010 hopefully but having visited for the last 5 years we are all disappointed
